Heavy rainfall has caused flooding in many parts of Sylhet, the largest city in the north east of Bangladesh. Nearly 60 people have been killed according to offical sources, and millions have been left stranded. Hundreds of villages have also been damaged. Neighbouring regions in India have also been affected.

Duʿāʾ for protection from every evil
Narrated ibn al-ʿAbbās رضي الله عنه:
The Prophet ﷺ used to seek Refuge with Allāh for Al-Ḥasan and Al-Ḥusayn and say: "Your forefather (i.e. Ibrāhīm) used to seek Refuge with Allāh for ʾIsmāʿīl and Isḥāq by reciting the following:
أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لاَمَّةٍ
[ʾAʿūḏu bikalimāti-llāhit-āmmah min kulli shayṭānin wahāmmah, wa min kulli ʿayinin lāmmah]
O Allāh! I seek Refuge with Your Perfect Words from every devil and from poisonous pests and
from every evil, harmful, envious eye
[Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 3371]

Narrated by ʿAmr ibn Maymun: ʿUmar رضي الله عنه [after he was stabbed], instructed [his would-be-successor] saying:
"I urge him [i.e. the new Caliph] to take care of those non-Muslims who are under the protection of Allāh and His Messenger in that he should observe the convention agreed upon with them, and fight on their behalf (to secure their safety) and he should not over-tax them beyond their capability."
[Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 3052]
