Narrated ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar رضي الله عنه:
Allāh's Messenger ﷺ used to practice ʾiʿtikāf in the last ten days of the month of Ramaḍān.

[Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 2205]

The 20th of Ramaḍān marks the Conquest of Makkah.

After years of persecution from the Quraysh, the muslims finally entered Makkah, peacefully, and openly practised Islām. This victory paved the way for the whole of Arabia to accept the faith.

Abū Ayyūb al-Ansārī رضي الله عنه reported Allāh's Messenger ﷺ as saying:

He who observed the fast of Ramaḍān and then followed it with six (fasts) of Shawwāl. it would be as if he fasted perpetually.
