It is understood that the CSMN remains suspended whilst under investigation for apparently hosting events in which speakers had pushed officials to “lobby” colleagues to alter the government’s policy on the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

However, a Muslim civil servant shared with Islam21c that the spotlight was firmly directed towards the support group immediately after two incendiary articles were published, first by the Times on 15 March, followed by the Telegraph on 16 March.

In the Golden Age of Islamic civilisation, when the cosmos whispered secrets to those willing to listen, our ancestors took on a noble quest. They pioneered the future of astronomy and, with over 2,000 crafted instruments, sought to unravel the mysteries of the skies.

Among these instruments were the astrolabe and the quadrant, marvels of engineering that allowed scholars to calculate time, latitude, and the positions of the stars with astounding accuracy. The genius minds behind these innovations, like al-Battānī and al-Zarqālī, were visionaries who bridged the Heavens and the Earth.

These instruments and their creators embody the essence of our historical pursuit of knowledge — a journey driven by curiosity, precision, and an eager desire to explore the unknown. They remind us that our strength can be built through a capacity for innovation and a relentless quest for understanding.

Envision someone born as a Black slave into the hierarchical norm of society within the Arabian Peninsula, being accustomed to the belief that ultimate power belongs to the Quraysh tribes and chieftains.

Imagine being a slave at a time when simply believing in one God could bring brutal punishment.

That was the reality for Bilal ibn Rabah (radiy Allahu ‘anhu).

For over a millennium, the Ummah has been a cradle of wisdom, illuminating the path toward the modern era. Our predecessors were architects, crafting a legacy that bridged worlds and spanned the ages.

In the heart of our history lies a story of resilience and enlightenment that sparked the flames of the European Renaissance.

Muslim scholars, with their voracious appetite for learning and innovation, did not merely preserve the classical knowledge of ancient civilisations. They enhanced it, infused it with new insights, and laid the groundwork for an era of unparalleled intellectual flourishing.

Their contributions were myriad — from the revitalising sciences and mathematics to the humanities, they sowed the seeds of progress that would come to bloom centuries later. This enduring influence represents the strength of the Ummah.

We are heirs to a tradition of excellence, and we are called upon to build upon this foundation with the same spirit of discovery and dedication.

In a world fuelled by instant gratification, upholding the quality of patience in wait of a later reward can feel impossible, and to some, pointless.

Why wait until later when you can feel, taste, and experience it now?

The Ummah has been a custodian of the Earth’s natural wonders.

Among the most beautiful examples of our heritage are the botanical gardens established across the Islamic world, numbering over a hundred, each a centre of discovery and healing.

These gardens were vibrant laboratories of life, embodying the Islamic commitment to understanding, preserving, and enhancing the natural world. Scholars and healers explored the secrets of plants, unlocking their potential for medicine, nutrition, and beauty, laying down the roots of modern botany.

They remind us that strength lies in our dedication to nurturing and protecting the blessings bestowed upon us. So let these gardens drive us to carry forward our legacy of learning and conservation, thereby fostering a world where nature and humanity flourish side by side.

Ammār and his parents Yāsir and Sumayya (radiy Allahu ‘anhum) were among the first to embrace a new religion in a hostile environment, in early Makkah. A poor family, they did not take the decision lightly.

The Quraysh, as the ruling tribe, fiercely opposed Islam. As a result, the Yāsir family faced unimaginable cruelty for refusing to renounce their newfound faith.

In the life of the Prophet ﷺ, there’s a chapter so poignant that it’s known as the Year of Sorrow.

During this time, he (ﷺ) faced unimaginable personal grief with the passing of two pillars in his life: Khadīja (radiy Allahu ‘anha), his cherished wife of 25 years; and Abu Tālib, his supportive uncle.

Between the 8th and 16th centuries, the Ummah embarked on a celestial odyssey, laying the foundations of modern astronomy. Our ancestors didn't just gaze at the night sky in wonder of Allah’s tremendous creation; they sought to understand it.

Over 70 observatories were constructed with their hands, marking the landscape of knowledge with monuments to their curiosity and intellect. These were institutes of enlightenment, guiding humanity to explore the vastness of the universe.

This illustrious period is a manifestation of the pioneering spirit of our scholars, who charted the Heavens, named stars, and began to unlock the cosmos' secrets. Their contributions remind us that we are part of a tradition that values the pursuit of knowledge as an act of worship.

In their monumental achievements, we find the motivation to build upon our heritage, to innovate, and to shine brightly the future for generations to come.
