🤖 Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of services, gave an ominous warning that the iPhone could go the way of the iPod 10 years from now

And the reason is artificial intelligence.

ℹ️ Cue’s remarks came during the Google Search antitrust remedies trial while discussing how AI has the potential to reshape the tech industry and open the door to new entrants.

Incumbents have a hard time ... we’re not an oil company, we’re not toothpaste — these are things that are going to last forever ... you may not need an iPhone 10 years from now.

🧐 Cue went on to say that the best thing Apple did was kill the iPod, a move he said was bold. “Why would you kill the golden goose,” he added.

🎁 Apple made a 24k gold and glass statue for Donald Trump

📰 At a White House press conference to discuss Apple’s new US manufacturing plans, CEO Tim Cook presented a gift to President Donald Trump: a “unique” piece of glass from iPhone glass manufacturer Corning that’s set in a 24-karat gold base.

🇺🇸 The piece of glass is a large disc with the Apple logo cut into it. On the top of the glass, President Trump’s name is printed. On the bottom, there’s a signature that appears to be Cook’s as well as the message “Made in USA” and the year 2025. The glass was designed by a “former US Marine Corps corporal” who works at Apple, according to Cook. The base “comes from Utah.”

😌 Cook is well known for his ability to foster a relationship with President Trump, and shortly after Trump was elected for his second term, CEOs reportedly looked to replicate Cook’s relationship-building skills. Trump has threatened Apple and other phone manufacturers with tariffs unless they bring manufacturing to the US.

🍏 “Apple: The First 50 Years” book

📰 The book by David Pogue an American writer and tech journalist for CBS, has been announced.

📖 Pogue covers technology and has been an Apple fan longer than most of us. According to the book's official website, here's what to expect in its 600 pages:
On April 1, 1976, two scruffy twentysomethings, both named Steve, founded a startup. Their goal: To bring the revolutionary power of computers to everyone.

Over the next five decades, Apple reshaped the technology and cultural landscapes, introducing the public to breakthroughs like the mouse, laser printing, CD-ROM, WiFi, digital video, home networking, touchscreen phones, and tablets. Jobs’s obsessive eye for detail set the stage for products—Mac, iMac, iPod, iTunes, iPhone, iPad, AirPods, Apple Watch—that married advanced technology with beauty, simplicity, and fine design.

Deeply researched and lavishly illustrated in color, Apple: The First 50 Years includes new interviews with 150 key people who made the journey, including Steve Wozniak, John Sculley, Jony Ive, and many current designers, engineers, and executives. The book busts long-held myths; goes backstage for both the titanic successes (450 million iPods, 700 million iPads, 2.2 billion iPhones) and the instructive failures (Lisa, Apple III, MobileMe); and assesses the forces that challenge Apple’s dominance as it enters its second half century.

📆 The book will be released on March 17, 2026, two weeks before the company's anniversary. The book is already available for pre-order. Pogue also promised to go on tour to promote the book.

🤪 A revolution is coming to Siri

📰 Bloomberg reports that the voice assistant will soon be able to search for and edit photos, add items to your marketplace shopping cart, and much more:

With nothing but your voice, you’ll be able to tell Siri to find a specific photo, edit it and send it off. Or comment on an Instagram post. Or scroll a shopping app and add something to your cart. Or log in to a service without touching the screen. Essentially, Siri could operate your apps like you would — with precision, inside their own interfaces.

🤞 If Apple really implements all of the above, it will fulfill promises made 15 years ago, Mark Gurman comments. All smart home devices that the company plans to release will also depend on the new technology.

👨‍💻 Testing of the updates is already underway. Siri is being “taught” to interact with Uber, Threads, Amazon, YouTube, Facebook, WhatsApp, and built-in Apple apps. Siri will likely either not interact with banking and “other sensitive” services at all, or will do so only to a very limited extent.

📶 MacBook Pro with a cellular modem may be released as early as spring 2026

📰 Following the release of its first in-house 5G modem with the iPhone 16e, rumors have suggested that Apple has been quietly preparing for a major leap forward in its MacBook lineup, one that could finally bring built-in cellular connectivity to its laptops. Internal Apple code seen by Macworld now reveals that the company has indeed been testing an unreleased MacBook Pro model with an M5 Pro chip and Apple’s first 5G modem.

🔤🔤🔤 OS codenamed ‘Charismatic’

📰 Apple is working on a new operating system that is a combination of tvOS and watchOS. According to Bloomberg, this is likely the previously mentioned homeOS. The new system is designed to control a smart home hub, which the company plans to release in 2026.

🤪 The interface will resemble a mix of tvOS and watchOS. It will be possible to control it by voice via Siri, but touch input will also remain.

🤞 The move signals Apple’s deeper [little by little] push into Al-powered ambient computing, where devices adapt seamlessly to users' environments and routines.

📱 Bad news for owners of 128 GB @iPhone

The new 🍏 26 will consume half of the iPhone's memory – about 50 GB. And this is only the beta version.

But just look at the new app opening animation – it's smoother than ever. Worth upgrading?

💻 MacBook Pro with M5 might not launch until next year

📰 In a new research note, TFI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that new MacBook Pro models with M5 chips will not be released until 2026.

ℹ️ Kuo says that future Apple A20 chips for the iPhone 18 series will be manufactured using WMCM (Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module) technology. This combines so-called “filling and molding processes” for more efficient production and increased yield of usable chips. This term refers to the percentage of functional chips that can be obtained from a single silicon wafer.

At the same time, the analyst is confident that the top-of-the-line M5 series chips for the MacBook Pro (the M5 Pro and M5 Max) will continue to use separate filling and molding processes in the manufacturing process, even though they will be “stamped” together with the A20 in 2026.

🧲 It is quite possible that Apple wants to release an ultra-budget MacBook on the A18 in October-November. And in order not to create internal competition with the new product, the company will simply postpone the release of the MacBook Pro on M5 until January-February 2026.
