iSpeed Test📱
iOS 12.3.1 vs. iOS 13 Beta 3 Re-release.
iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, iPhone 8
🗣 Benchmark tests are still very close when it comes to Geekbench. However iOS 13 loses out in all except for iPhone 8 Multicore. All others fall short altough not by very much. In the Antutu HTML5 test though iOS 13 is blazing fast on all devices. So Apple has stepped out here for sure for iOS 13. But worst of all, still absolutely no sign of the increased app launch speed. Yes it is still a Beta but we are 3.5 Beta versions in to the program, and you should start seeing it. So step up Apple.
I know it is not the final version, and it may not kick in before the final but I am seriously beginning to doubt that we will ever see it.

• Auto playing videos in Photos.app can be deleted again (without needing to pause first)
• Trends in Activity have an improved layout
• New context menu for rearranging apps. Wiggle mode will no longer be triggered by a longer long press and long press will always trigger context menu
• AirDrop will be set to Contact Only Upon installing this beta instead of “receiving off”
• Apple Watch app displays Siri section regardless of screen time setting. Whether changes can be made or not depends on screen time setting though
• A “Long press” action can now be assigned to a mouse button in the accessibility options. (currently very buggy)

New Issues:
• Download file option missing in Safari
• Apple Music app will act as If attempting to download lyrics from Apple Music if the song has local lyrics embedded. But for songs having no lyrics, the behaviour is the same as beta 1 till 3.
• On iPad, if user disconnects Wifi from settings by turning off Wifi, user may need to turn off and turn on wifi from settings several times to connect to Wifi again, otherwise iPad will report “no internet connection” even though wifi is connected to the internet
• It is now very difficult to invoke spotlight search on iPad within any app, whether on portrait or landscape mode. Pulling down Notification Center and swiping right won’t give spotlight search feature, unlike iPhone. If user has Bluetooth keyboard or Apple Smart Keyboard Folio connected, Command+Space will trigger spotlight search.

Remaining Issues:
• If a playlist in music app uses automatically generated artwork (the artwork formed by four artworks which are extracted from the song in the playlist), that artwork will eventually not match the song, instead from some random songs inside the playlist.

Resolved Issues:
• Groups are back in the phone app
• 3D Touch works on home screen
• All devices support “3D Touch” gesture on home screen (slide to select options in context menu instead of leaving finger off screen first before tapping)
• Search boxes are no longer black
• Notification Center/Control Center now can invoke when using Reachability
• Application that rely on Location data work again
• App Switcher responsiveness has returned to normal
• Open in New Tab has returned in Safari.

🗣 Performance of iOS 12.4 Beta 7 / GM is more or less still the same as that of iOS 12.3.1 when it comes to launching apps, and overall smoothness. However it is slower on all devices when it comes to the Geekbench test, not by much but consistently slower. Antutu HTML5 test however is faster on all devices except for the iPhone 8.
Now only one more test to do when the final drops and with some luck these abnormalities has been fixed.

• New podcasts and videos had "filled" blue bubbles next to them to indicate that they were new, now if you have "half-played" a podcast or video, it will include a half filled blue bubble

• Bookmarked home screen apps open in full screen.

Companion changes in/with iTunes 8 for this release:
• Displays capacity and used space of information on iPhone

3G, EDGE, and GPRS indicators changed
• The camera can now be turned off within the restrictions page
• When taking a screenshot of your phone, there is now the camera shutter noise
• iPhone never gets locked when placed in dock and playing music.

Bug fixes, performance enhancements:
• Security fix to prevent from bypassing the double home button exploit
• Fixed bugs causing hangs and crashes for users with lots of third party applications
• Faster installation and updating of 3rd party applications
• Updating applications keeps their icons in place on the home screen
• Improvements to Mail stability
• Improved email reliability, notably fetching email from POP and Exchange accounts
• Faster loading and searching of contacts
• Auto-correct now appears above the text instead of below (fixing a usability problem people were having where auto-correct would appear above the first row of keys)
• Smoother browsing in Safari, particularly when scrolling up/down on a web page
• Significantly better battery life for most users
• Decrease in call set-up failures and dropped calls
• Improved accuracy of the 3G signal strength display
• Calculator bug fixed affecting calculations involving Pi.

iPod Touch (2nd generation) only:
• Nike+ Support.

iPod Touch only:
• Settings for individual speaker sounds. Sounds can no longer be turned off en masse. All sounds must be turned off individually to mute sounds
• New speaker sound when sending mail.

🗣 Good news, seems like Apple is trying to fix 3DTouch aka Force Touch, still not there yet, but definitely a step in the right direction.
We are for sure still not seeing any of the performance improvements that was mentioned during the WWDC Keynote. Yes this is still a Beta and no we should not expect any launch speed improvements on non iOS 13 updated 3rd party, but you would think that Apple would let it loose on their own apps right? Does not look like it. We are still seeing on par launch speeds compared to that of iOS 12. 3. 1. I think that is quite disappointing, even for a Beta 2. Fearing that this could be the reality distortion field that strikes again. Lets see for future releases.
