IBPS PO Interview Experience
(Ishita Sharma, Quora)
5 members were sitting : F1, M1, M2, M3, M4 (from left to right). I peeked in and asked to come in. They said yes. Got in, Closed the door behind me then first looking at the female member and then at each of the rest, I studpidly went : good morning ma'am, good morning sir, good morning sir. (Yes, I realised immediately after I said it).
Now second mistake→ Went up to the chair while greeting, not realising I was about to sit, when I realised, I asked for permission (they noticed) and M2 (The Head Panelist) said yes, yes please take your seat. And so I sat. (Don't do this people, most certainly does not give a good impression! 😐)
M2: what qualities of a PO do you have?
I answer one by one explaining 1, 2, 3… He didn't want to hear explanation, just names. After 3, I just named a bunch of few other qualities without explaining.
I had said time management as one so he said me what is time management:- Explained.
He gave it away to M5: what is the meaning of your name? :- Told
M5: Imagine a situation where you are PO and your staff works under you, everyone does their job except for one. What do you do?
–sir, I'll ask that particular staff, if they have a certain problem they need help with. (He Interrupted me and said no he doesn't have any problem he just doesn't want to work) So I said: I'll be strict then, I'll tell them it doesn't work here like that, you're getting paid to work, if you don't wanna work, you might as well sit at home. (They had a slight smile on their faces and M3,M4 started discussing something between themselves while passing it to M1)
M1: What have you prepared today?
–sir, general banking awareness.
M1: on what topics? (I named a few including NPA) What are NPA?
Explained.
How do you recover them? :- I Explained two ways he asked for a third. I said I can't remember. He said okay.
He passed it to F1: difference between NBFCs and Bank?(I forgot and couldn't answer, said something wrong completely)
F1: What are the famous 4 engines in the new budget?
-Sorry ma'am I can't remember it currently, I'll read it later for my knowledge. (She was disappointed, it showed.)
M3 : difference between Microsoft Windows and MS word?
–Explained with Confidence.
What are the softwares that were used before windows? (I forgot and took a few seconds to remember, he waited for a while but then Interrupted and said smilingly)- Remember DOS? –I said yes sir, definitely and Linux, Unix as well. He smiled and passed it to M2.
M2 : what is the job of a PO?
–I explain and included they also sell govt schemes. He asked what all schemes? I said a few and he asked what about MSMEs?
I said there is MUDRA scheme, explained a little. Then looked at M3.
M3 : What is the name of airport of Bhopal?
–I knew the answer, but couldn't bring my single brain cell to work, he saw through me and helped with :- who is bhopal named after? I immediately remembered : Raja Bhoj, and then I said : right sir, Raja Bhoj Airport! And said thank you with head tilt (He was the best panelist, he was smiling the whole ten minutes, easing the way through, especially while questioning me.)
Then they looked at each other and said okay, that's it Ishita you can leave, and take one (gesturing at the toffee bowl) so I got up, said thank you looking at each one of them, took an Eclair and left.
Score - 72/100

Why MSMEs Still Face a Credit Crunch
Credit Gap Remains Large
Despite a lending surge, MSMEs still face a ₹30 lakh crore credit gap.
Bank credit to MSMEs touched ₹35.2 lakh crore (March 2025), yet demand remains unmet.
Main Reasons for the Crunch
• NBFC Withdrawal
NBFCs have reduced unsecured MSME lending due to rising defaults and tighter risk controls
• Rising NPAs & Risk Aversion
Higher delinquencies have made lenders more cautious, pushing them toward safer, secured loans.
• Structural Problems
Many MSMEs lack collateral, formal financial records, or reliable credit history.
This makes lenders hesitant despite strong credit growth.
• Inclusion Gap Persists
Formal credit is growing, but many viable MSMEs still remain outside the formal lending ecosystem.
Impact on MSMEs
Shortage of working capital and funds for expansion.
Dependence on informal lenders with higher costs.
Increased vulnerability for sectors reliant on steady cash flow or exports.
Broader Implications
India needs stronger cash-flow based lending, alternative data-based credit scoring, and collateral-free financing frameworks.
Improving MSME credit access is essential for employment, exports, and economic resilience.
