❗️ Important changes in MEPHI educational process

After Russia's withdrawal from the Bologna system, the country is undergoing a transformation of its higher education system. MEPhI announced the transformation of Master's and PhD programs aimed at improving the quality of specialist training.

We have introduced such new concepts as Specialized Higher Education (Master's degree) and Professional Education (Postgraduate Studies).

➡️ It is anticipated that the master's degree may be one-year and two-year.

🔸The two-year Master's degree is intended for graduates of 4-year basic higher education (humanitarian, economic, IT profiles), for bachelor's degree graduates of previous graduates (for a transitional period), and for foreign citizens who need “Bologna” diplomas.

🔸One-year Master's degree is intended for graduates of 5-6 years of basic higher education (engineering profiles), as well as for specialists of specialized enterprises (project approach) and specialists of previous years of graduation.

There will be Master's degree programs of different types:

1️⃣ Research Master's Degree with a through track “Master's Degree - Postgraduate Degree” (2 years) implements programs on the basis of a specially created educational and research laboratory and a leading scientific school. Educational process takes place through the inclusion of students in real research activities

2️⃣ Industrial Master's program (1 year) is aimed at training of Master's students in order to obtain additional in-depth professional competencies in engineering directions. This type of specialized higher education envisages on-the-job training of Master students

3️⃣ Corporate, entrepreneurial master's degree (1 and 2 years) is aimed at training masters for the current industry, capable of conducting successful activities in global high-tech markets.

4️⃣ Master's degree in prospective directions is aimed at the development of new programs that address the challenges and problems of development (or filling the missing competencies) and provide training in the specialties (professions) of the future.

➡️ The main aim of postgraduate studies (professional higher education in the new naming) will be the training of candidates of sciences to replenish highly qualified personnel for universities, scientific institutions, for knowledge-intensive spheres of production. At the same time, the main goal of postgraduate studies is to prepare a dissertation for defense in the dissertation council during the time of postgraduate studies.
