One of the most frequent questions from applicants is: where do students live during the studies? ๐ง
๐๐ผ Today we will tell you about one of the most important places for MEPhI students - student dormitories!
๐ฉ๐ปโ๐๐ง๐พโ๐All international students have the opportunity to live in dormitories on preferential terms: the cost per month starts from 1,500 rubles and does not rise above 5,000 rubles, depending on housing conditions.
So, let's tell!๐
๐ข MEPhI dormitories are residential complexes that offer comfortable accommodation for students while studying at the university. Buildings are located near the main campus and provide various types of accommodation:
๐๐ผ Bachelors and students of the preparatory course live in 2 and 3 bed rooms with shared bathrooms
๐๐ผ Undergraduates and postgraduates can stay in apartment-type dormitories for 2 or 3 people in a room with its own kitchens and bathrooms
๐๏ธ The dormitories have everything you need for a comfortable stay: study rooms, kitchens, laundries, and, of course, furniture and household appliances. Some buildings have free gyms! All the buildings of the dormitories are in good condition after major repairs.
๐๐ปโโ๏ธIt is very important that the dorm department has a wonderful staff who is always ready to help students with solving all their problems! These are the guards, the commandants, the staff of the housing complex, and of course the director of the dormitories!
๐ค Living at MEPhI dormitories is a great opportunity to meet new people and create a friendly support community. Here, students can participate in all kinds of activities, clubs and activities to diversify their leisure time.
๐ Thus, MEPhI dormitories are a great place for young students, where they can get not only a shelter, but also a lot of positive emotions, new acquaintances and opportunities for self-realization!

๐ The guests came to Moscow specifically to learn about the opportunities for the exchange of young specialists through annual internships at MEPhI and Harbin Polytechnic Universities in the fields of nuclear physics, biomedicine, IT and nanotechnology.
๐๐ผ On April 1, representatives of the Shanghai Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (SIOM) arrived in MEPhI on a second visit.
๐Rector Vladimir Shevchenko and SIOM Director Chen Weibiao signed a Memorandum of Understanding providing for mutual exchange in the field of higher education and scientific research. It is planned to develop joint research programs and joint use of research infrastructures, create joint research laboratories, organize bilateral symposiums and conferences, exchange students, as well as conduct specialized and comprehensive programs for bachelors, masters and postgraduates.
๐ค As a result of the negotiations, representatives of the NRU MEPhI received an invitation to pay a return visit to the Shanghai Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics.
๐ Leading Chinese universities and research institutes are actively interested in cooperation with MEPhI. Ties with Asian countries are becoming stronger every year!

โป๏ธWaste recycling. The most important part of the development of nuclear technologies is waste recycling. Rosatom is engaged in the processing of nuclear waste, including the disposal of spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste. The company is also developing technologies for the safe storage of nuclear waste and minimizing its environmental impact.
๐It is with these areas that the professions of the future are connected, which will help improve the lives of millions of people on the planet!

The delegation of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI is currently in New Delhi, the capital of India, where it is taking part in the Indian-Russian Education Summit (Indo-Russian Education Summit 2024) ๐ฎ๐ณ๐ท๐บ
๐ฅฒ The task facing our representatives is to promote the university's educational programs in India. Elena Sarapultseva, MD, Professor, makes a presentation on "Nuclear technologies and biomedicine in MEPhI" (as part of the panel discussion "Cooperation between Russia and India in the field of medical education"), and Anna Rogova, Head of the Education Export Department, presents the topic "MEPhI โ the leading Russian university in the field of engineering education" (at the round table "Technical Universities").
๐ The summit is taking place on the territory of the Russian House in New Daily. The delegation of the NRU MEPhI also plans to visit a number of universities in the Indian capital.
โ๏ธ The purpose of the delegation is to introduce students from India to MEPhI, to talk about the flagship areas of training and the prospects that studying at our university provides.
๐ There are 2 more exhibition days ahead, we will definitely tell you how they are going!

๐จ๐ปโ๐ Yes, indeed, MEPhI cooperates with Roscosmos. And today, on Cosmonautics Day, we want to tell you about the connection of our university with space!
๐ MEPhI formally became the main university of the Roscosmos State Corporation just 2 years ago, in fact, the university has always been one. Yuri Polyakov, Executive Director of Finance at Roscomos, is a graduate of MEPhI, and Yuri Borisov, General Director of Roscosmos, was previously head of the Electronics Department (No. 3) at MEPhI National Research University. Two cosmonauts Nikolai Rukavishnikov and Sergey Avdeev graduated from MEPhI.
๐ซWe talk about MEPhI's space projects๐ซ
๐ฐ๏ธ Satellites and engines for them. Vera and Lena plasma propulsion systems for nano- and microsatellites have been developed at the Laboratory of Rocket Plasma Engines of the Institute of Laser and Plasma Technologies of the MEPhI. Vera has already been tested in space. MEPhI also created the Svyatobor-1 satellite for monitoring forest fires, which was launched on June 27, 2023. It is planned to create a small innovative enterprise for the production of engines for satellites. The main buyer of engines from MEPhI is a Russian private space company.
๐ The NEVOD (that means in Russian โnetโ) catches cosmic rays. The unique scientific installation NEVOD is designed to study cosmic rays. It includes a number of physical installations and detectors that have no analogues in the world. The composition of the detectors is constantly being updated, and this year the vertical TREK detector will be finally assembled. At the end of March, employees of the REC NEVOD using the HURRICANE hodoscope may have been the first to record a unique solar flare โ GLE-74.
โญ๏ธ What's inside the stars? One of the important areas of space research in which scientists of the MEPhI participate is laboratory astrophysics, studies of extreme states of matter similar to those that occur, for example, inside stars and during catastrophic astrophysical events. Of course, such research requires installations of the "megascience" class, therefore, the MEPhI can carry out such research only in collaboration with other organizations. So, in 2022-2023. MEPhI graduate students took part in an experiment at the BM@N installation as part of the Nuclotron-NICA scientific complex in Dubna near Moscow. During the experiment, conditions close to those that occur in space when neutron stars collide were recreated. These data are currently being analyzed โ the first results will be reported at the ICPPA 2024 conference at the MEPhI in October this year.
โ๏ธ And this is not all that MEPhI does for the development of space science in Russia and in the world! Today we want to congratulate everyone involved on Cosmonautics Day! ๐ฅณ
๐ฝ MEPHI is the cosmic power of your future!

๐งพ Today we begin our brand new column in the channel!
From now on, we'll be sharing the stories of our amazing MEPhI science elite โ our Nobel laureates. It's no secret that our university is a hub for some truly incredible minds, with six Nobel laureates having studied or worked here.
๐ Our first hero is Nikolai Semenov.
He worked at MEPhI from 1951 to 1960 and made groundbreaking contributions to science. Semenov developed the quantitative theory of chemical chain reactions, the theory of thermal explosions, and the combustion of gas mixtures. His improvements to Bodenstein's quasi-stationary concentrations method and discoveries in catalysis are legendary.
In 1928, he discovered branched chain reactions, revolutionizing our understanding of chemical processes. This work earned him the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1956, shared with Cyril Hinshelwood.
Semenovโs pioneering work opened vast prospects for controlling chemical processes, cementing his legacy as a scientific giant.
