Why MSTR Can Outperform Bitcoin and Why Companies Are Embracing Crypto Treasury Strategies? 📈

There are multiple reasons for this, the sentiment or the hype of investors might impact, but in the post analysis today, we focus on fundamental, the balance sheet or the accounting-finance side of it.

1️⃣ Firstly, companies like MicroStrategy or Bitmine can issue convertible debt with low/zero-coupon (Convertible debt is a loan that can be repaid with equity (ownership shares) instead of cash), When BTC rises, equity captures gains on a larger BTC base than shareholders’ book equity, so equity returns are amplified. Simple like this:

For example:
Your balance sheet is this: BTC assets = $200, debt = $100, equity still = $100 (accounting principle: assets = debt + equity).
When BTC goes +50% → BTC assets $300. Debt is still $100. Equity becomes $200. Your equity doubled (+100%) even though BTC was up only +50%. That’s leverage.

2️⃣ Secondly, MSTR often trades above the value of its BTC per share (a NAV premium). That means, when they sell new shares via “at-the-market” offerings, it lets the company buy even more BTC per incremental share, which can increase BTC/share despite dilution, a flywheel that boosts upside sensitivity.
