I experienced this when my so called friends protected my abuser when I started to speak up about things he was doing...
The problem is, it's easy to convince people who don't really know me. Thankfully, I have enough people who do know me, and will call him out on his bullshit... He didn't count on that.
I tried to explain to Ed several months ago how he fell into my abuser's trap, because my abuser was jealous of my friendship with Ed.
Now, if I were to guess what happened, my abuser played a certain recording of me ranting one night, saying some really shitty things.
