๐ป๐ช Government of Venezuela and opposition unite in rejection of Almagro's statements about Essequibo
Since mid-September , tensions have increased between Venezuela and Guyana due to the dispute they both have over the Essequibo.
Although Caracas has expressed on several occasions that this international body does not have the jurisdiction to intervene in this case , in April of this year the Court admitted the lawsuit filed unilaterally by Guyana in 2018, which means that both will go to trial.

๐ป๐ช๐ฌ๐พ UN Court To Hear 'Urgent' Guyana Bid In Venezuela Territorial Dispute
The UN's highest court said Friday it will convene on November 14 to consider Guyana's urgent request for a halt to a Venezuelan referendum on whether or not to annex an oil-rich region both countries lay claim to.
The referendum is planned for December 3 despite an unresolved territorial dispute before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, which said in a statement its one-day November hearing will be devoted to Guyana's request for urgent "provisional measures."
Venezuela has for decades argued that the 160,000-square-kilometer (62,000-square-mile) Essequibo region administered by Guyana should fall within its borders. The region makes up more than two-thirds of Guyana and is home to 125,000 of its 800,000 residents, according to a decade-old census.

๐บ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฆ The United States has no funds left for direct budgetary support to Kyiv; without new appropriations, humanitarian aid may cease completely - USAID agency
๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ฆThe Washington Post writes that the conflict between Zelensky and Zaluzhny, previously denied by some, has become public, which, against the backdrop of a lack of good news and the failure of the counter-offensive, provokes fears among the Kiev elite that the West will force them to negotiate, that is, to capitulate. The morale of the population also leaves much to be desired, and the conflict in the Middle East has added to fears about negotiations.
It was separately mentioned, by the way, that Zaluzhny is very popular among the people, and would win the elections if he went into politics, but he has not yet given any signals of his desire to do so.

๐บ๐ธ๐ฆ US Treasury borrowing at pandemic levels when US government was supporting the entire economy. Meanwhile the economy is at full employment & Fed is raising rates - i.e. fiscal and monetary going in opposite directions. Why are no economists calling out this insane mismanagement?

๐บ๐ธ๐ฆ OUCH! US debt interest bill rockets past a cool $1tn a year. Itโs 4% of annual US GDP. It has doubled in 19 months. It is equivalent to 16.3% of the entire Federal budget for fiscal year 2022.

๐บ๐ธ๐ฆ Worse yet, the pace of inflation remains about twice as high as before Jan '21 and there's no signs of slowing w/ Treasury borrowing $500 billion this month alone - you ain't seen nothing yet...

๐บ๐ธ๐ฆ Treasuries head for a third consecutive annual loss, per Bloomberg. ๐ Unusual Whales
๐บ๐ธ๐ฆ Since the 2008 financial crisis, rules around the leverage ratio for banks changed, making them a lot less flexible in what they can purchase. Essentially, they have requirements for how much capital they must hold, and this limits their ability to swoop in as market makers in the Treasuries market.

๐บ๐ธ๐ In 1985, the defecit in the USSR was 2% of GDP. By 1990, it had climbed to 10%, but Soviet bonds were still rated as strongly as Canadian or Italian bonds. In 1991, despite super majorities in nine of the 15 Republics voting to keep the USSR together under the auspices of the New Union Treaty, the defecit increased to 30% of GDP and the Union collapsed under the weight of mass inflation.
