🇯🇴🇵🇸❗️Jordan cannot accept Palestinian refugees from the Gaza Strip, this issue is a red line for the kingdom. This statement was made by King Abdullah II of Jordan during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, answering questions from journalists about a possible influx of refugees into the country.

“This is a red line. No more Palestinian refugees - neither in Jordan nor in Egypt. This problem must be solved within the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian territories in the West Bank [of the Jordan River], and there is no need to shift it onto the shoulders of other states,” the monarch emphasized.
🇬🇧🇪🇺🇵🇸 Could the UK and Europe be facing a repeat of the 2015 migrant crisis?

The 2015 migration crisis in Europe was triggered by 1.3m people fleeing after the collapse of the Libyan government. With up to 2.1m Palestinians being made homeless, and a possibility that the conflict could spread, the crisis in the Gaza Strip could trigger another wave.

🛢️📈 Crude oil prices are now up +6.5% from their low today and nearing $90/barrel. Just as crude oil prices were finally coming down, geopolitical tensions are sending them higher. In an already under-supplied market, we are seeing even more supply at risk.…

🛢️🇻🇪🇺🇸 U.S. to ease sanctions on Venezuelan oil for freer presidential election

The Biden administration and the Venezuelan government of President Nicolás Maduro have agreed to a deal in which the United States would ease sanctions on Venezuela’s oil industry and the authoritarian state would allow a competitive, internationally monitored presidential election next year, according to two people familiar with the breakthrough talks.

The sanctions relief is to be announced after Maduro’s government and Venezuela’s U.S.-backed opposition sign an agreement to include commitments by the socialist government to allow a freer vote in 2024, the people said. They are expected to do that during a meeting in Barbados on Tuesday with U.S. officials in attendance.

🌐⛽️ Conventional oil production has now unequivocally rolled over. Unconventional production, the only source of growth in global oil supply over the last 12 years, has also significantly slowed. The only growing non-OPEC basin is the Permian in West Texas.…
🇺🇸🛢️📝: American strategic making over the last several years has become highly emotional in nature, with little consideration for the long term ramifications of their strategic actions. The emerging oil crisis is just the latest example.

In the 2010s, the United States could afford to sanction Venezuela and Iran because oil still flowed freely from Russia and the Arabs, while shale production domestically was booming. With Russia now under sanctions, the Suez and Persian Gulf under geopolitical threat and shale production in the Permian peaking, an energy crunch looks set to inflict considerable damage on the Western Bloc.

This was entirely predictable but the American political elite never considered it because of their extreme devotion (delusion?) in their own belief system which has become detached from any sort of material reality. Now that they can no longer ignore it, they’re scrambling to attempt to soothe things over with Venezuela to prevent a replay of the 1970s.

🇺🇸🛢️ Permian productivity has been a hot topic since well performance dropped last year. That trend looks to be continuing into 2023.

We don't yet have a ton of data on well history (after you factor in reporting delays), but so far, it looks like performance has continued to fall. Looking at peak rates, Permian wells have fallen from an average peak month production of 986 bbl/d in 2021 to 942 bbl/d in 2022 and now 861 bbl/d in 2023.

Of course, the 2023 numbers are for a smaller sample size than 2021 and 2022, but this is nevertheless worth watching.

🌐🛢️Oil Headed for $150 Without US Support for More Drilling, Shale CEO Says

Oil is headed as high as $150 a barrel unless the US government does more to encourage exploration, according to Continental Resources, the shale driller controlled by billionaire Harold Hamm.

Crude output in the Permian Basin will one day peak as it already has in rival shale regions such as the Bakken region of North Dakota and the Eagle Ford in Texas, Continental Chief Executive Officer Doug Lawler said during an interview with Bloomberg TV. Without new production, “you’re going to see $120 to $150” oil, he said.

“That’s going to send a shock through the system,” he said. Without policies encouraging new drilling, “you’re going to see more pressure on price.”

🛢 🇷🇺 The Imminent Peak In Permian Oil: What Does it Mean For Investors?

The Permian Basin's oil production is set to hit "Hubbert's Peak" late next year, indicating a turning point after which the production will start to decline.

Much of the high-quality acreage in the Permian Basin has already been drilled, contributing to the basin's declining potential and an increasing reliance on less prolific "child" wells.
