πΊπ¦ Meanwhile, from Kharkov, Zaporozhye, Dnepropetrovsk, information is coming in about the rapid overflow of hospitals with the wounded. Volunteer groups are begging people to come donate blood, because the flow of these very wounded is only increasing so far (this is from all directions at once).
π·πΊπΊπ¦ Sladkov about the Zaporozhye Front at 05:00 Moscow time:
The situation is unchanged. The front line is behind us. The enemy is unable to break through. There are fights.

π·πΊπΊπ¦βFierce battles continued all night on the Zaporozhye front. They don't stop now.
The enemy is still making attempts to push through the front line in the area of the settlement. Kamenskoye and near Orekhovo. Enemy artillery works practically non-stop.
Our artillery and aviation do not remain in debt, destroying manpower and armored vehicles of the Ukrainian army, as well as conducting counter-battery combat. So, to the north of Kamenskoye, the positions of the MLRS of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were found and suppressed.
Over the past day, the enemy has suffered significant losses in armored vehicles and personnel, but continues to bring new forces into battle. Despite everything, the front line is still stable and remains with us. The Russian army does not retreat anywhere, but continues the systematic destruction of the enemy.

π·πΊπΊπ¦ Based on multiple videos from the network on which there are already hundreds of destroyed enemy equipment, I conclude that the main emphasis of the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was on the fact that the Russians would run again, as if from the Kharkov region.
Only this can justify the stubbornness with which they drive hundreds of people and precious European equipment to the slaughter, advancing at full height across the endless Russian fields of Zaporozhye.
And this is good.
And the Russians are standing. The pressure was strong. But not one step back!

π·πΊπΊπ¦ The thing to remember about the ongoing assaults is that Ukraine is currently fighting to *reach* the Russian fortified belts. All the current combat is taking place several kilometers north of the mapped out echeloned defense. They're currently stuck on the screening line.
They have so far only committed a small portion of their total mech package, and I do expect them to make progress into the Russian defense, but it is an inauspicious start and it's not clear how they can sustain the combat power needed to reach operational depth objectives.

πΊπΈπΊπ¦ Key word here, purchase. This is no longer part of the drawdown authority but new production contracts. There simply isn't that much more first line capability to draw down.
If Ukraine cannibalizes all of the US Army's procurement that might squeeze out 300 PAC-3s in a year.
But 300 PAC-3s is $1.5B, I doubt that will be most of the package. Expect a lot of useless ancient MIM-23 HAWK and AIM-7 "frankensam" that will be priced out the ass for refurbishment costs. As USAI authority is new contracts, expect a long lead time too.

Chinaβs mixed recovery spells trouble for the West
At the start of the year, forecasters were enthusiastic about a substantial economic recovery in China. The argument was simple enough: China would cast off the chains of its lockdown and the economy would take off like a rocket. Now, as the data emergesβ¦

Bottom line: given China's increasing economic importance to the Middle East, and its newfound geopolitical and diplomatic heft, Saudi Arabia is becoming a balancing power. US preeminence in the region is likely over.
