Afrobeat star Davido has opened up about his past friendship with convicted Nigerian fraudster and Instagram socialite, Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi.

In a recent podcast interview, the singer acknowledged knowing Hushpuppi personally but maintained that he had no idea about his involvement in fra¥d. “Hushpuppi is coming out soon. He lived life. To me, it is not worth it to be locked up. But let me not make excuses for them.

Some people are happy to ball for five years and that is it,” Davido said. The 30BG crooner also touched on the harsh realities of life in Nigeria, which he believes often push people toward cr+me.

“In Nigeria, there is a kind of hardship you would face and you will be like, you know what Hey God, let me ball for two years then I am good,” he explained. Davido expressed sympathy for Hushpuppi, “People are like that. My prayers go out to him (Hushpuppi). He’s my friend. I just see him around, I never really knew what he was doing. But he lived the good life.”

Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi, has opened up about the harsh realities of his early life in Port Harcourt.

In an interview with Daily Sun, Amaechi revealed that p+v£rty defined his childhood to the extent that he wore the same shirt and trousers for nearly four years. “We could hardly eat three times a day or change clothes,” he said.

“Most people don’t believe it when I say I wore the same outfit for years, but my classmates know the truth.” Now a seasoned politician, Amaechi humorously recounted how some of his old classmates ignored him back then because of his poor background. “I tell them during reunions, ‘One of you could’ve been Mrs. Amaechi,’” he joked.

Despite the difficult start, Amaechi rose to become a two-term Speaker, two-term Governor, two-term Minister, and former Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum. “Men f+ght to be relevant,” he said. “For me, I am as simple as life can give.”

IGP Orders Immediate Withdrawal of Police Mobile Force from VIPs, Private Individuals.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate withdrawal of Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel assigned to private individuals and VIPs across the country.

Speaking during a conference with PMF squadron commanders at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, Egbetokun described the PMF as the elite tactical unit of the police, stressing that it must be refocused on its original mandate—rapid response to r+ota, emergencies, and v+ol£nt thr£ats.

He expressed concern over the increasing diversion of PMF operatives to escort and guard duties, calling it a serious distortion that weakens the unit’s operational effectiveness. The IGP also unveiled a series of reforms aimed at restoring professionalism and discipline within the PMF.

These include quarterly training focused on ethics and professional standards, as well as the requirement for all squadrons to maintain combat-ready units that can be deployed at a moment’s notice.

He emphasized that commanders would be held directly accountable for the conduct and performance of their personnel, urging them to lead through consistent training, inspections, and mentorship.

Egbetokun noted that these reforms are part of a broader plan to elevate the force’s operational standards and uphold human rights in line with global best practices. He reaffirmed the commitment of the police leadership to reposition the PMF as a disciplined, dependable, and highly responsive tactical unit.

He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his continued support and acknowledged the contributions of international partners in enhancing the force’s technical and operational capacity. The IGP called on all PMF commanders to embrace the reforms as both a professional duty and a moral obligation.
