GameFi Market Performance Overall

🧠Trading volume: $6.322B, of which Harmony 48.58%, Ronin 26.85%, BSC 14.25%

🧠 Total number of players: maintained at 1.2M

🧠 Number of new games: 242, the largest number of games on ETH

🧠 Player distribution: The top three chains with the most players are WAX (28.83%), Hive (28.55%), and BSC (13.4%)

🧠 Distribution of transaction volume: the top three chains with the most players are WAX (77.7%), Hive (11.99%), and BSC (2.01%), and the distribution of each chain is obviously different

🧠 GameFi funding increased 194.19% year-over-year and decreased 40.78% season-over-season.

🧠 Independent games got the most rounds, followed by game platforms (i.e. guilds) that were funded, mainly in the seed round;

🧠 Polygon Technology is the chain with the highest number of independent game projects with fundraising and the highest amount of fundraising;

🧠 Animoca Brands was the most active investment institution this quarter

Top 4 blockchains by funding amount:

○ Solana Labs: $43.6 million
○ Ethereum: $34.5 million
○ Binance: $16.3 million

● Animoca Brands: 27 investments, 18 lead investments ○ Animoca received the most significant funding of the quarter in the sector at $358 million
● Binance Labs: 6 investments, 5 lead investments
● Andreessen Horowitz: 3 investments, all lead investments
● OKX, Coinbase Ventures, Paradigm Capital, Three Arrows Capital Pte Ltd all made investments, all with follow-on investments

Highlights in short:

💡 yes, the number and intensity of VC deals dropped significantly (if previously the active funds in this sector were signing 2-3 funding deals per week and even more, now it is 2-3 per month);

💡BUT! good long-term VCs continue investing and actively looking for strong startups with great teams. VC activity didn't freeze completely.

💡 In terms of fundraising: valuations will go down, due-diligence process will take longer, investors are more picky than ever. So founders are recommended to focus of execution and traction as a first priority before approaching VCs. No more "funding on a pitch deck stage".

💡 CASH IS THE KING. Founders should cut off expenses and work on their runaway to ensure they can survive for the next 6-9 months.

💡 Salaries in crypto will adapt and get closer to "traditional" markets.

💡 Web3 infrastructure projects, protocols, layer 2s, DeFi remain in the top priority of investors. Also, dApps with wider target audience, that have potential for mass adoption. And Yushan Zheng for example believes that projects built on Bitcoin can be the next big trend.

🔸 How the management behaves in crisis times and how it influences all the above…

It’s not something you think about a lot in the early stage startup, and of course, you don’t formalise it before achieving some milestones. But Company Culture exists organically in every startup and reflects each aspect of relationships listed above. And depends a lot on the founders’ personas, since in a small company they have a huge influence on every part of business. ''
