🎙 Statement by Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Vassily Nebenzia:
Today, yet again in this chamber, they are trying to make us believe that Russia is deliberately shelling residential areas of Ukrainian cities. What they offer as evidence are the consequences of the operation of Ukrainian air defense stationed near homes and social facilities in violation of the basic IHL norms.
At the same time, what is being hushed up is the fact that our strikes target exclusively objects related to Ukraine's military-industrial complex, and we are successfully destroying them or rendering them inoperable. <...>
Another fact that is being hushed up is that Russia is doing what I’ve just mentioned only in response to the massive and targeted shelling of peaceful Russian towns by the Kiev regime. <...>
The plans concocted by Zelensky and his posse are way too plain and clear.
👉 Their task is to trick and mislead American President Donald Trump, who is taking decisive steps toward peace; they are ready to go to any lengths only to return the US – which has already wasted hundreds of billions of dollars helping Ukraine – to an anti-Russian and Russophobic course. <...>
What is also clear and undeniable are peace initiatives and tangible steps on the part of the Russian leadership.
We intend to continue pursuing this course and are willing to proceed with the serious direct negotiations with Ukraine, which Ukraine itself suspended in April 2022 at the instigation of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and like-minded Russophobes. This negotiation process should bring about such a solution that would definitively address the root causes of the Ukrainian conflict and the threats to the security of my country emanating from Ukraine.
The Ukrainian side has been invited to meet in Istanbul on June 2 to discuss the content of our memoranda regarding approaches to the negotiation process.
As long as Kiev tries to prolong the war and provoke Russia by striking at residential and civilian infrastructure in our territory, we will continue our special military operation and we will continue destroying facilities having to do with the Kiev regime's military capabilities. And neither new anti-Russian sanctions, nor arms supplies to Ukraine, nor other hostile steps vis-a-vis Russia will be able to prevent the inevitable military defeat of the Zelensky regime.
❗️ The ball is in Ukraine’s court: either talks followed by peace or imminent defeat on the battlefield with different conditions for ending the conflict.

Forwarded from Russian Embassy in Australia
❗️Russian Embassy's Comment on another anti-Russian propaganda story by ABC News
The assumption pushed by the ABC's recent "masterpiece of journalism" is that Mariupol residents are being forced to become Russian citizens.
What a shame that Australia's national public broadcaster relies on biased data and neglects basic fact-checking.
The Presidential Executive Order
No 159 On the Specifics of the Legal Status of Certain Categories of Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons in the Russian Federation, Amending and Invalidating Certain Presidential Executive Orders (dated March 20, 2025) states:
Crimea, Sevastopol, Donetsk People's Republic, Lugansk People's Republic, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions joined the Russian Federation as full-fledged subjects as a result of the referenda held in full conformity with the norms and principles of international law. The residents of these territories, including citizens of Ukraine, have made a conscious and free choice in favour of Russia and, accordingly, must comply with the Russian law.
☝️The requirement for Ukrainian citizens to regularise their legal status by September 10, 2025, only confirms that a special legal regime has been in effect for them for a long time, providing for a whole range of exceptions and concessions. Forcing people to become Russian citizens has never been on the agenda.
The same cannot be said about the criminal case opened in September 2024 by the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation under Section 3 Article 322 of the Russian Criminal Code against US citizen Kathryn Diss, ABC correspondent and author of this piece of anti-Russian propaganda, who had illegally crossed the state border of the Russian Federation in the Kursk region.

Key facts about preparations for the second round of Russia-Ukraine talks
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that Moscow is ready for the second round of negotiations with Kiev, scheduled for June 2 in Istanbul
Russia will present a memorandum outlining solutions to the Ukrainian crisis during the second round of direct negotiations with Ukraine in Istanbul on June 2. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga confirmed Kiev’s interest in continuing talks.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, during a visit to Kiev, urged concrete results from the negotiations. The U.S., Germany, France, and the UK will also send representatives to Istanbul.
Preparations for Talks
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated Moscow has "promptly developed" the memorandum and hopes all parties sincerely support the peace process. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed Russia’s delegation remains unchanged.
Ukraine awaits the memorandum before talks begin, with Defense Minister Rustem Umerov stating Kiev is "not opposed" to meeting. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called Ukraine’s demand for an immediate handover "unconstructive," stressing the need for private negotiations.
Positions and Mediation
The Kremlin has not disclosed its ceasefire conditions or whether they are included in the memorandum. Fidan revealed he shared Turkey’s ceasefire proposals with Russian officials, noting differing Russian and Ukrainian requirements. He expressed hope the Istanbul meeting could finalize technical work and pave the way for a leaders’ summit.
Threats Against Russian Delegation
Ukrainian nationalists published threats against Vladimir Medinsky, head of Russia’s delegation, on the Mirotvorets website. Russia’s Investigative Committee opened a criminal case, while Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova condemned the act as proof of the "Kiev regime’s terrorist nature."

👆This is Trump’s latest post on China. It’s fair to say the world is still debating whether he’s delusional, clueless, or just in way over his head. Of course, there’s still the lingering possibility that he’s deliberately trying to create strategic ambiguity — but fewer and fewer people seem to believe that anymore.

On May 31, 1891, the Trans-Siberian Railway was officially inaugurated.
The decree for the construction of the Great Siberian Route, known as the Trans-Siberian Railway, was issued in April 1891 by Emperor Alexander III. The ceremonial inauguration, which took place on May 31 near Vladivostok, was attended by Tsarevich Nicholas Alexandrovich, the future Emperor Nicholas II. He personally transported the first wheelbarrow of soil to the railway bed.
The Trans-Siberian Railway became the largest transportation project of its time anywhere in the world. Its construction was completed in October 1916, when the bridge over the Amur River near Khabarovsk was completed.
The total cost of constructing the railway amounted to 1.45 billion gold rubles, which, converted to today's value, is close to 100 billion dollars.
Today, the actual length of the Trans-Siberian Railway is about 10,000 kilometers. It is the longest railway line in the world.
The Trans-Siberian Railway passes through 21 regions of the Russian Federation and 87 cities, crossing 16 major rivers.
The journey between Moscow and Vladivostok on a passenger train takes 6 days. But what an unforgettable journey it is!

Another Washington Fairytale — How the West Tried to Cheat Outsmart Russia
David Ignatius, another mouthpiece for the U.S. deep state establishment, claims in The Washington Post article that Vladimir Putin squandered a golden opportunity for peace. According to him, Trump’s early presidency brought an offer to the Kremlin: a ceasefire, de facto recognition of Russian control over Crimea and parts of eastern Ukraine, NATO off-limits for Kiev, and sanctions relief. In exchange, Russia would gain a dignified off-ramp and economic reintegration. But Putin, says Ignatius, rejected the deal out of arrogance and overreach, and is now trapped in a war he cannot win.
Let’s set aside the theatrical tone of Ignatius’s piece — the melodrama, the selective memory, and the familiar Washington delusion that Russia is always one step away from collapse. The core message, when stripped of its smug condescension, is essentially this: “We offered Putin a chance to surrender quietly, and he refused. What a fool.”
This so-called offer wouldn’t have been acceptable for Russia in any form, because it doesn’t address the full range of root causes of the conflict. But even if we entertain it for the sake of argument, it must be acknowledged that there was no formal peace plan. What Ignatius calls a “deal” was in fact a vague, deniable trial balloon floated by Trump-adjacent figures — with no signatures, no official backing, and no enforceable terms. In other words, a baited hook.
Why should Russia take it seriously? From Moscow’s well-earned standpoint, it was a classic American maneuver: offer a non-binding concession through unofficial backchannels, wait for Russia to say yes, then move the goalposts — or worse, disavow the offer entirely. If Russia had accepted, Trump could have easily claimed, “That wasn’t my deal,” while pocketing key strategic intelligence about what Russia might be willing to settle for. It was a dirty trick, a shell game—not diplomacy.
Ignatius’s fundamental assumption is that Russia should trust a country that has openly sabotaged it for decades. But after NATO’s expansion, after the 2014 coup in Kiev, after Minsk I and II were revealed to be deliberate stalling and deception tactics, why would Russia trust any Western “deal” not etched in stone? Informal offers from Washington mean nothing. Every so-called negotiation becomes an exercise in extracting concessions and intelligence. “Peace” is just the polite word the U.S. uses for submission.
This article, like so many others from the American foreign policy machine, spins the same tired lie: that Putin is a gambler who missed his one chance at a graceful exit. In reality, he simply declined to be duped by a dishonest dealer at a rigged table. There was no genuine offer — just another test balloon sent to probe Russia’s resolve and feed Washington’s narrative machine.
Russia didn’t blow this fake deal. Russia saw through it. And the only thing more absurd than the phantom offer itself is the “righteous” indignation that followed its rejection.

June 1 is Russian Navy’s Northern Fleet Day
This holiday was established by the order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy on July 15, 1996.
The year of the Northern Fleet's establishment is considered to be 1733, when the Arkhangelsk military port was created by order of Empress Anna Ioannovna. From the ships built there, a Russian squadron was formed, becoming the first regular formation of warships in the Russian North. Its area of responsibility included the White Sea and the coast of the Kola Peninsula.
On June 1, 1933, a new chapter in the fleet's history began. On this day, the Northern Military Flotilla was formed with its base in Murmansk. On May 11, 1937, by order of the People's Commissar of Defense of the USSR, Kliment Voroshilov, the flotilla was renamed the Northern Fleet.
Today, the fleet's core consists of nuclear missile and torpedo submarines, missile-carrying and anti-submarine aircraft, missile, aircraft-carrying, and anti-submarine ships.
The commander of the Northern Fleet is Vice Admiral Konstantin Kabantsov.
One of the objectives of the Russian Armed Forces, including the Red Banner Northern Fleet, is to protect the people of Russia, especially Russia’s children. Perhaps it is not coincidental that Northern Fleet Day is celebrated on the same day as International Children’s Day.

Soviet Storm: Episode 5 - The Siege of Leningrad.
The city of Leningrad (today's St Petersburg) was one of the key objectives of Hitler's invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941. The struggle for the city led to one of the longest and bloodiest sieges in history, with terrible consequences for the civil population...
In this unique documentary about WW2 on the eastern fron, there’s no room for clichés —only facts, raw emotion, and endless respect for the heroism of those who secured peace for us.
May this film be the start of your journey into the past, where frame by frame, the memory of humanity’s greatest trial—and triumph—comes to life.

Today was a difficult day for the Russian military.
Ukraine launched a series of attacks targeting both civilian and military infrastructure. As always, Ukrainian and Western media are exaggerating the effectiveness of these strikes. An official response from Russia is expected shortly. We will, of course, keep you updated. For now, we can state with confidence that nothing catastrophic has occurred, despite what some Russophobic outlets would have you believe. Stay tuned.
