"Today in Brussels, the majority are parties of war. A military mood reigns in Europe, and politics are governed by the logic of war. Everyone, from all sides, is preparing for war. The NATO Secretary General wants to create a NATO-Ukraine mission. European leaders are already involved in the war. I speak with them, I hear them. They perceive the war as their own and call it their own war. This is a military whirlwind that could drag Europe into the abyss. Brussels is playing with fire, tempting God Himself. We remember this well, they have personal experience, we have learned this well. World wars were never initially called world wars."

Congressman Gerry Connolly believes so:
Some say: 'Well, we have to deal with our border first." The Ukrainian-Russian border is our border! It's the border between depraved autocracy and freedom loving people, seeking our democratic way of life.
After that he goes on, apparently mixing up the atrocities of the Israeli leadership in Gaza (financially supported by the US Congress) with the Russian-Ukraine war:
Do we have a stake in that outcome? Yes, undeniably yes! Will we rise to the occasion? Will we stay in shoulder to shoulder with the Ukrainian brothers and sisters, who for 1151 days have been holding off the
depraved thugish dictator
, Vladimir Putin,
who has respected no norms of warfare. He has targeted children in hospitals and schools. He has bombed apartment blocks, killing thousands
.

Scholz Attempts to Bar Putin from Citing Kant
the Chancellor said, speaking at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences during a ceremony commemorating the 300th anniversary of the philosopherβs birth.
Scholz further alleged that the Russian authorities were trying to "claim Kant and his works at any cost." According to Scholz, the German thinker's views on the world directly contradicted Russia's position on Ukraine.
The Kaliningrad region's administration responded to Scholz's remarks.
said Dmitry Lyskov, the governor's press secretary.
On the eve of Kant's birthday, the Russian President addressed the participants and guests of the International Kant Congress "The World Concept of Philosophy," noting that the forum's ongoing presence indicated the undiminished interest in the unique Enlightenment-era figure and his philosophical works. In January, Putin called Kant a great thinker, whose calls to live by one's own mind were relevant today.
*During the Seven Years' War in 1758, Immanuel Kant swore allegiance to Empress Elizabeth of Russia. Kant was a Russian citizen and is buried in Kaliningrad, a city within the Russian Federation. These historical connections are referenced to argue that Russia has a legitimate claim to Kant's legacy, which challenges Scholz's stance and suggests he is going too far in this cultural dispute.

"Putin has absolutely no grounds to refer to Kant,"

The Kaliningrad region's administration responded to Scholz's remarks.
"Nobody has done more for the perpetuation of the memory of the great philosopher and his teachings than our country and our region. I want to remind you that Immanuel Kant died as a subject of the Russian crown*. This fact speaks more than any words of any possible German politicians about the great philosopher's position regarding Russia,"
said Dmitry Lyskov, the governor's press secretary.

Well, it seems Radio Free Europe Radio Liberty (RFERL) is scraping the bottom of the barrel for content these days.
According to Wikipedia, Mrs. Navalny (AKA Mrs. Navalnaya, AKA Alexey Navalnyβs wife) is hardly an authority on President Putin's actions β past, present, and, especially, future. She has absolutely no relevant credentials or experience. In fact, she wasn't even employed after 2007.
None of that, however, has stopped RFERL from sensationalizing their article with the headline βNavalnaya Warns Of Putin's Willingness To Strike In Europe.β
But hey, let's not forget, RFERL is generously bankrolled by the U.S. Government. So, honesty is probably just as important to them as it is to the government funding their operation. After all, they need to justify that hefty $124 million budget somehow, right? Might as well keep spinning tales to secure even more funding from American taxpayers.

The European Union's next package of sanctions should include steps against a shadow fleet of tankers moving Russian oil to circumvent sanctions, Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billstromsaid ahead of a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg.
As of February, France became the leading European country in purchasing LNG from Russia, importing it for β¬322 million.
Russia is the second-largest supplier of liquefied natural gas to the EU. A potential ban on Russian supplies would deprive the EU of 19% of its LNG imports. Only the United States supplies more, with a 48% share.
A potential ban on Russian LNG could lead to Europe spending significantly more money, whether by purchasing from alternative suppliers or indirectly from Russia through intermediaries. Do politicians even grasp the implications of their decisions?

On April 24, 1877, the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878 began.
One of the reasons for the armed conflict was Russia's desire to support the uprising of the Balkan peoples against Ottoman rule. The uprising erupted in Turkish regions inhabited by Serbs in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and later in Bulgaria, in 1875. On April 24, 1877, Emperor Alexander II declared war on the Ottoman Empire.
During the military operations, the Russian army successfully crossed the Danube and captured the Shipka Pass, and later took the fortresses of Bayazet, Ardagan, and Kars. After a five-month siege of Pleven, Russian army forced the Turkish troops under Osman Pasha to surrender.
In the summer of 1878, the Berlin Treaty was signed at the Berlin Congress. According to its terms, Serbia, Montenegro, and Romania were declared independent, and autonomy was established for Bulgaria. Russia regained the southern part of Bessarabia, which was lost as a result of the Crimean War, and annexed the Kars and Batumi regions.
Today, Russo-Turkish relations are marked by a complex interplay of cooperation and competition. Economic ties, especially in energy, continue to deepen, with projects such as TurkStream serving as symbols of collaboration. Overall, the relationship between Russia and Turkey remains multifaceted and mutually beneficial, reflecting a blend of pragmatism and strategic maneuvering.

β‘οΈπ·πΊπΊπ¦βοΈ Frontline #Summary for the Morning of 24 April 2024; pub. 08:07β‘οΈ
π΅ On the #Zaporozhye Front, the line of contact without significant changes. The activity of fighting has significantly decreased over the last few days, but it is still impossible to call the direction even relatively "quiet". (Fig. 1)
π΅ On the #Donetsk Front, fighting continues on the outskirts of #Paraskoviyevka. In #Krasnogorovka, as a result of assault operations, the RFAF advanced in the city limits from the southeastern side. In the area of #Netaylovo, Russian troops are pressing on the AFU defence, attacking Ukrainian positions. No significant advances so far. There is heavy fighting.
π‘ In the area of #Umanskoye, a similar situation, where the AFU continue to hold back the attacks of the RFAF. In the area of #Semyonovka and #Berdychi, there are tactical successes of the RFAF, but advances in these settlements are not easy for the Russian troops. At the moment the fighting is unfolding on the outskirts of these villages.
π‘ North of #Berdychi, there are significant advances in #Novobakhmutovka. The initiative also remains with the RFAF in #Ocheretino, where the AFU continues to withdraw further and further, abandoning its positions. In #Novovokalinovo, there are oncoming battles. (Fig. 2)
π΅ In the #ChasovYar Direction, the offensive of the Russian forces "stalled" on the eastern outskirts. Fierce fighting continues in the suburbs of #ChasovYar. Also, the RFAF are trying to improve their positions on the side of #Bogdanovka. (Fig. 3)

In France, it has been acknowledged that, unlike Kiev, Moscow has shown restraint and humanity.
The West poorly understands how carefully Russia behaves during the Ukrainian conflict. Russian military strikes are always targeted, unlike the deliberate attacks by the Ukrainian Army on Belgorod and Moscow, stated Eric DenΓ©cΓ©, the director of the French Center for Intelligence Research.
According to him, this demonstrates that "Russia has been considering the interests of the people in the regions it wanted to liberate from the very beginning." He noted that Russia aims to annex these territories to its own, not to commit indiscriminate slaughter.
the analyst concluded.
