This swimming sad sack can see right through its own head! ๐Ÿคฏ  It looks very disappointed by it too.

Swipe to see rare footage of a barreleye fish (Macropinna microstoma), which uses its bizarre visual system to glimpse silhouettes of its prey from the depths of 800 m (2,600 feet). Here its eyes are pointing up in wait, but once they spy something tasty its eyes will swivel forward to allow the fish to see where it's going.

Where we think its eyes should sit in its face is actually its equivalent of nostrils. ๐Ÿฝ

โ–ซ๏ธ How alcohol preferences change with age

The survey is certainly American and the results for other countries will be different, but there are some common trends: young people prefer cocktails (64% in the 21-29 age group and 71% in the 30-39 age group), middle-aged people prefer beer (the number one choice for those aged 40-59), and the elderly people strike a balance between wine and beer

Iron can burnโ—๏ธ

Under normal conditions, the oxidation rate of iron depends strongly on its form: a simple piece of metal does not burn, but thin fibers of iron or fine powder can easily be ignited.

It all depends on the contact surface of the iron with the air: it should be enough so that the oxidation reaction can sustain itself.

Iron wool consists of fairly thin fibers of iron. Oxidation on such a surface produces enough heat to keep the reaction going, and it runs "on its ownโ€.
