An average person with a healthy microbiome commonly hosts about 1,000 different species of intestinal bacteria, roughly 300 species of bacteria living in the mouth, 850 species of skin bacteria and from a few dozen to several hundred bacterial species that inhabit the urogenital passages.

And that's not counting viruses, microscopic fungi and parasites that are also part of our microbiome!
