Forwarded from Violation of Romantic Distance.
I hesitated to share this, since this space welcomes anyone passionate about the humanities majors, about media. I welcome you here with any other reasons to be. Anyone hopeful for the future or today's world, even those with deeply pessimistic views. Here, I don't care at all about people's nationalities or political beliefs. You do you. However, recent events, particularly genocide, have deeply affected many of us. Something I have to lighten up for you again. LITERAL GENOCIDE IS HAPPENING. I've endeavored to empathize with the suffering of those in our nation who hate to talk about the Palestine's case or even think of it. I'm striving to understand the anger fueled by the propaganda we're bombarded with. However, just for once, put yourself in their shoes and imagine your life realistically afterwards. Drawing from my own life experiences, I know Abrahamic religions are ideological apparatus, oppressing us and exploiting our freedom every day. As a middle-eastern woman I get it damn straight. I know about the artificial fashion-show white people are leading on these days to pretend they care about Palestine. I get it if you say you're not privileged enough to care for other nations in this cursed land. (Though, I oppose to this attitude most of the time). I know our pain might not be heard in the future because of the the tragedy happening in Palestine. The content of such a discussion will be distracted by some idiots and Pseudo-Leftists who think this war is about Islam. Or themselves. No. It's about colonialism. It's about monopolizing control based on massacre. Genocide happens and bombs don't care if you're jewish, muslism, atheist or etc. If you're either a feminist or a woman, you need to know that Palestinian woman is fighting all her life against two systems of apartheid. One colonialism, another the instituitional religion being forced on people. I empathize with the frustration and anger toward media influence. What I can't hold respect for however, is you watching a decapitated child's body and make jokes about it. I cannot condone indifference to the rape, murder, and mass killing of thousands of children.
Not just children. People. You can't take out some list names from murdered people and say "oh but this one was an extremist islamist, that one was a homophobe" It's not about SMALL SCALE. You're just being blinded I'm afraid. Genocide is not about individuals being this and that. Do you go and fact-check about millions of dead Native Americans to make sure if they weren't "red flag" in your limited circles? What would you say if the same thing happened to you, as you were protesting against a Totalitarian government in your country and hear out others telling you to die or to mock your suffering. A suffering beyond imagination. I tolerate everything. Even if you're angry at Palestinians, media, anything, that's fine. But if you fucking support Genocide. I can't even imagine how your mindset works. I hope you see the actual things happening there. I hope you gain back your empathy. Just because I'm being oppressed where I live, doesn't mean that I should be an ignorant asshole. Even if you're ignorant it's fine. What is not fine and I ask you respectfully to leave here for is that, is you getting happy with the news of innocent people getting killed. Or else you get weirdly mad if people, if humans, feel the empathy. Based on my internal absurdism, I don't believe I would raise against that or western intellectuals could save these people. But I can't see a disturbing video and say "good, they deserve it". Even if some people of that nationality did the same for us. I try not to be them, then. Simple as that.
If you're active enough on telegram, have this channel for having updates on the matter. I might sound too simplistic trying to change a pro-genocidal mindset. Just please. Wake up. Middle-East is born on blood and cattle, no matter where. Solidarity is the last thing people of this land could do for each other.

Alexander (Smbat) Abian (January 1, 1923 – July 24, 1999) was an Iranian-born Armenian-American mathematician who taught for over 25 years at Iowa State University and became notable for his frequent posts to various Usenet newsgroups, and his advocacy for the destruction of the Moon.
Abian gained a degree of international notoriety for his claim that blowing up the Moon would end virtually every natural disaster. He made this claim in 1991 in a campus newspaper, stating that a Moonless Earth wouldn't wobble, eliminating both the seasons and its associated events like heat waves, snowstorms and hurricanes.

“The lowest depth to which people can sink before God is defined by the word “Journalist”. If I were a father and had a daughter who was seduced, I should not despair over her; I would hope for her salvation. But if I had a son who became a journalist and continued to be one for five years, I would give him up.”
