Putin disagrees with Central Bank on Cryptocurrency ban
The head of Russia's Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina, has recently said that cryptocurrency may be banned in Russia. Putin explained that the risks are foremost to the consumer ('volatility' - albeit the ruble is barely a stronghold of value 😅🙄) and noted that Russia has a special position in the world when it comes to cryptomining.

- Six million Russians keep their savings in cryptocurrency. The total amount is several trillion rubles.

- Blockchain and crypto is a magnet for thousands of innovative people in business, especially young people.

- Russia is third in the world for digital currency mining. The argument is that it is not necessary to ban, where you can create an understandable legal system for regulation of cryptocurrencies.

Let's go back to 2008 when Georgian tanks, under the guidance of tie-eater Saakashvili, rolled into Tskhinvali (a disputed de facto republic of South Ossetia, on the border with Russia's North Ossetia); the usual culprits reported these to be Russian tanks - CNN, BBC, Reuters etc.

Russian tanks did roll in when several Russian peacekeepers in the region were killed - blowing Georgian forces out of the water and decisively ending the stand off. "What did you expect we would do - come at you with a slingshot?" - Putin asks.

Today Saakashvili is a stateless person, having given up his native Georgian citizenship for Ukrainian & was stripped of that too. These kinds of characters have no nationality anyway.

Reminder - the Donbass region (Lugansk and Donetsk Republics in Eastern Ukraine) have been awaiting a referedum ever since the US-led coup of Ukraine in 2014. They await to voice their self determination as to which country they want to be a part of; remain with the Ukraine, be independent, or be a part of Russia (and historically so.)

This is enshrined in the Minsk agreements, which have not been fulfilled due to stifling by the Ukrainian side.
