Is the "if you had to choose" "neither" the new IQ meme?
Context for those who don't get it:
The "had" in "if you had to choose" necessitates that your only options are the ones provided to you.
If "neither" is not an option provided, then saying "neither" shows you don't understand the implications of "had to", and wrongly conflate it with could (if you could choose...would you?) or a similar verb in which you are not locked in to the choices given to you, and thus shows that you have a low IQ.
e.g.
"if you had to shoot yourself in the left or right foot, which foot would you choose?"
Neither is by definition not an option. Low IQ if you don't understand this and say neither.
"if you could, would you shoot yourself in your left or right foot"
Neither is an option, as the question only asks, if given the ability, would you act upon it, and not acting upon it is allowed in this hypothetical scenario, given the use of could, which is not restrictive.
