📣 Fundamentals of Commercial Law midterm details

Task: Debate
Weighting: 50%

🗓 Key Deadlines
- Feb 14: Register your pair & team name (via Google Form).
- Feb 23 (23:59): Submit Argument Summary on Intranet.

⚠️Note: You cannot debate without submitting this!⚠️

Debate Date: TW 8 (might change)

💬 The Task:
• Teams: Pairs (2 students). You choose your partner.
• Topic: You will be assigned one of 12 topics (For or Against) randomly.
• Written Requirements: 1,000 words (+/- 10%) Argument Summary.

✏️ File Format: MS Word, Arial 12pt, Single-spaced.
Content: Motion, Position, 4+ Arguments, Bibliography.

🎤 Debate Format (20 Mins Total)
-Team A Speech: 6–7 mins (Uninterrupted)
-Team B Speech: 10 mins (Speech + Counterarguments)
-Team A Rebuttal: 3–4 mins (Counterarguments)

⛔️ Rules
• No Internet allowed during the debate (bring printed notes).
• Sources: Must use academic sources (Books, Cases, Journals). No Wikipedia/UKessays.
• Citations on Request: You must be able to provide full source details (Author, Date, Publication, Page/URL) to judges or opponents if asked during the debate.

For those of you who have chosen Fundamentals of Commercial Law, the module team has created Google Forms for debates registration

🔖 - Debates will be in pair-against-pair format (2vs2)
- Deadline for registration is 14 February, 23:59
- If you do not register by this time, the module team will form pairs from remaining students after the deadline

🌐 Topic and schedule allocation is expected to be released around 16-17 February
Once your debate time is announced, it can not be changed

⚠️ - Your teammate must be from the same seminar slot as yours
