Anthropic reports that an allegedly China-backed group jailbroke Claude Code and used it to automate 80–90% of a full cyberattack against major U.S. companies.

Hackers forced the model to write exploits, run nmap, escalate privileges, steal credentials, and even manage opssec — turning a safety-trained system into a near-autonomous attacker.
