Dear Students,

We have republished the finalized Quiz 3 scores for the course Statistics I. Please check your student dashboard.

How do we calculate your scores?
1. Raw Scores which we receive from our exam partner are processed for partial marking after ignoring the removed questions, which then provides us with the modified scores.

2. Normalisation is carried out to equalize the marks scored by the learners across the 2 shifts and normalise across courses suitably.

Please note by normalizing the scores we either retain the scores achieved by the learners or increase it based on requirement.

We are republishing as an intermediate step of marks that had been published by mistake earlier.

Warm regards,

IITM Bsc degree team

Dear Learner,

We have the timed mock tests/Practice exam as given below of 180 minutes.

This is a mock test for students to help you practice giving the End-Term exam in a timed format. The number of questions, marks, etc may vary from the actual exam.

The test will be available in the form of an Assignment each inside of the 4 courses - Mathematics of Data Science I & English I course on March 09, 2021, at 7.00 IST PM and accept submissions till 10:00 IST PM and inside Statistics of Data Science, I & Computational Thinking on March 10, 2021, at 7.00 IST PM and accept submissions till 10:00 IST PM.

At 10:00 PM IST, the mock test time will be over and submissions will close. Answers and scores will be made visible after that.

For those who miss this, the test will be available for self-practice thereafter.

These are purely for your practice and will not be counted anywhere

We will release the worked-out solutions once the mock test closes

Solve with Instructor Live:

Parallel, a Solve with Instructor session will also happen during the mock test. Candidates who find the paper difficult can attend the Live with Instructor session.

A Live session link will be available in the student calendar.

Calculator link: https://www.tcsion.com/OnlineAssessment/ScientificCalculator/Calculator.html

Please try using this calculator to solve the problems so that you get to practice using this too. This is the calculator that will be available for your use on exam day at the center.

Good luck!

Dear learner,

We wish to announce the introduction of E grade in the BSc programme, keeping in line with the grading system followed in the various IITM on-campus programmes.

This is the grading system previously approved which you must be aware of

The following are the changes we are bringing about now:

IMPORTANT POINTS TO BE NOTED:

1. Even with the introduction of the E grade, the overall percentage required for graduation will still be kept as >= 50, where overall percentage = average of the marks obtained in all passed subjects.

2. Those who get U/WA/WQ grades will have to repeat the entire course to pass it including submitting weekly assignments, appearing for quizzes 1,2,3, and the end term exam, whenever they register to it next, paying the course fee again.

3. Those who get an I grade, can choose to

1. either repeat the entire course as given above

2. or register for the End term exam alone in the subsequent term, whereby we will retain the quiz scores from the previous run.

(more details will be published soon - await our notification on this).

4. Also, as a one time concession for this batch alone, we will calculate the Total course score in 2 ways:

1. 40% best 2 quizzes out of 3 + 60% Final exam score

2. 50% best 2 quizzes out of 3 + 50% Final exam score

We will be considering the higher of the two as your final course score.

In case of any queries, please write to us.

Thank You,

IITM - BSc Degree Team.

Dear learner

Here are answers to questions we have received from multiple learners.

1. Each subject in the exam, though within the same session (FN/AN),
will be treated independently.
If we DO NOT RECEIVE RESPONSE TO EVEN A SINGLE QUESTION in a subject -
we will treat you as being "Absent for that subject".
If even a single question has a response - you will be treated as
"Present for that subject".
So, within a session, if you so choose to be absent for one exam,
PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY QUESTION IN THIS SUBJECT.

2. If you are eligible to attend the exam and have gotten the hall
ticket to attend the exam, attending the end term exam of the subject
is mandatory to pass the subject.
If you are absent for the final exam of a subject - your grade will be
"I" and you can choose to repeat the subject or write the end term
the exam alone next term. (Refer to earlier email). Even if the Average quiz
score>40/100 and you are eligible for an E grade, you will still get an
"I" if you are absent for a subject.

3. If you are NOT ELIGIBLE to attend the exam and you submit responses
in that subject, we WILL NOT CONSIDER the responses.

4. Only the individual subjects in which you have not passed have to
be repeated again.

Thanking You,

IITM - BSc Degree.
