As we approach our Parish Feast Day, let us prepare our hearts together as a community. From 𝟰 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝟭𝟮 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲, let us pray special 9-Day Novena in Honour of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Tomorrow, July 11, we celebrate the Memorial of 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐚 (c. 480–547 AD), the legendary founder of the 𝐎𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭 (𝐎𝐒𝐁), the "Father of Western Monasticism," and the holy twin brother of 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚! 🕊️🎒

As a patron saint of Europe, Benedict famously founded communities for monks in southern Italy. His crowning achievement was creating the Rule of Saint Benedict, a collection of wise precepts for his monks that became one of the most influential religious rules in Western Christendom. Instead of demanding extreme, unreachable penances, Benedict provided a balanced blueprint for daily living:

▪️ 𝐎𝐫𝐚 𝐞𝐭 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚: A beautiful rhythm of daily prayer and manual work.
▪️𝐑𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐎𝐛𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 & 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: Emptying oneself of ego to serve Christ and the community.
▪️𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: Promising to remain rooted in the same monastery for life.
▪️𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: Treating every guest and traveler who knocked on the door as if they were Christ Himself.

Did you know the famous 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐥-𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 used worldwide for spiritual protection is directly tied to his life and these rules? 🛡️✝

When bitter rebels tried to poison his wine and bread because his rules were too holy, the glass shattered by the Sign of the Cross, and a raven flew away with the bread!
