What you might NOT know is that this conflict has real life ties: it is, in fact, modeled after the debate around the Isahaya bay reclamation project, to this day one of the most controversial reclamation projects in Japan

A big part of this debate revolved around increasing environmental concerns especially by the local fishermen, who would lose a big chunk of their area of operation in the terraforming process
