در نامه‌های شما که در آزمون آیلتس می‌نویسید، ممتحن‌ها دنبال سه چیز مهم می‌گردند: ساختارتان، لغت‌هایی که استفاده می‌کنید و شیوایی زبانتان.
ساختار

نامه‌ی شما باید حداقل سه پاراگراف داشته باشد و هر پاراگرافی هم وظیفه‌ی مختص خودش را انجام دهد.
در پاراگراف اول یاید هدف متنتان را در یک یا دو جمله تعریف کنید.
در پاراگراف دوم باید توضیح دهید که اصلا چرا دارید این نامه را می‌نوسید.
و بالاخره در پاراگراف سوم باید بگویید چه‌جور جوابی به آن طرح تعریف شده در سوال می‌خواهید بدهید.

باید از لغات هوشمندانه‌ای استفاده کنید. هنگامی که دارید یک شکواییه یا نامه‌ی دادخواهی می‌نویسید یا هنگامی که دارید یک تقاضانامه‌ی برای کار می‌نویسید، متنتان باید رسمی باشد اما در نامه‌ی شخصی لازم نیست از ادبیات رسمی استفاده کنید.
