دو مهارت اصلی بخش ریدینگ آزمون های آیلتس و تافل، اسکیم کردن و اسکن کردن هستند که هر دو بدنبال دریافت هر چه بیشتر از متن بوده و به امکان افزایش درک مطلب میپردازند. برخی کتاب های ریدینگ زبان انگلیسی و برخی کتاب های مرجع آیلتس و تافل هر دوی این مهارت ها را آموزش داده و تمرین هایی را برای آن ها تعیین کرده اند. در زیر نگاهی به مهارت اسکیم کردن داریم.
تافلِ iBT- مهارت اسکیم کردن

اسکیم کردن یا اسکیمینگ،​ یک تکنیک خواندن است که به شما در خواندن سریع برای دریافت خلاصه مقاله یا متن کمک می کند. شما صرفا تلاش می کنید به یک ایده کلی از متن برسید. شما ممکن است با اسکیم کردن متن تصمیم بگیرید که آیا اطلاعات ارائه شده پاسخگوی نیازهای شما در آن زمان است یا خیر. این همان کاری است که ما مثلا زمانی که روزنامه می خوانیم انجام می دهیم.

گاهی اوقات اسکیم با اسکن اشتباه گرفته شود. اگر چه اسکن نیز شامل خواندن سریع مطلب است اما هدف متفاوت است.

شیوه های اصولی تقویت واژگان ضروری IELTS و TOEFL

گنجینه گسترده واژگانی که به درستی بهمراه مثال(Example) ها، ترکیب(collacation) ها و تعریف(definition) آموخته شده اند میتوانند در بالا بردن نمره زبان آموزان در آزمون های آیلتس و تافل بسیار سودمند باشند. پیش از این درباره بهترین شیوه ها و منابع لغات آیلتس/تافل نوشتیم و گفتیم که راه های گوناگونی برای اندوختن این گروه واژگان وجود دارد و برای هر کس میتواند منحصر به فرد باشد. در زیر بهترین شیوه های یادگیری(حفظ کردن) هدفمند واژگان را بررسی میکنیم. برتری و مزیت این شیوه های آنست که آن ها را در چهارچوب طبیعی خود یا میگیرید و دیگر آنکه به یاد آوردن آن ها بسیار ساده تر خواهد بود.
بهترین شیوه های تقویت واژگان دشوار آیلتس و تافل
(۱) یک دیکشنری(فرهنگ واژگان) استاندارد و تک زبانه انتخاب کنید:

اگر در آغاز راه آیلتس/تافل هستید، هنوز میتوانید خود را از بیراهه بهره گیری از فرهنگ لغت های غیر استانداردی که بسیار در میان زبان آموزان معمول است و آن ها را ناخواسته به پرتگاه آموختن هزاران هزار برابر نادرست میکشاند نجات دهید! گزینش یک دیکشنری طراحی نشده برای امتحان های آیلتس و تافل انتخاب یک خروجی نادرست در یک مسابقه حساس است که ممکن است جبران آن هرگز ممکن نباشد. این دسته زبان آموزان حتی با کوشش بسیار و صرف صد ها یا شاید هزاران ساعت آموزشی هرگز نمیتوانند به نمره های ایده آل ۷ آیلتس و ۱۰۰ تافل برسند و در چهارچوب کاری خود بعنوان آموزگار آیلتس/تافل بسیار با این موارد روبرو هستیم و پیشنهاد میکنم برای گریز از این پرتگاه پیش از هر چیز دیگر در این زمینه یک تصمیم گیری هوشمندانه داشته باشید.

معایب دیکشنری های غیر استاندارد را میتوان در (یک) پیشنهاد برابر های نادرست یا برابر های فارسی، (دو) تلفظ نادرست یا نداشتن گزینه تلفظ و (سه) نداشتن مثال های مناسب (چهار) نداشتن مرجعی برای ترکیب(collocation) ها و هم معنی(synonym) و (پنج) نداشتن تعریف(Definition) درستی از واژه ها دسته بندی کرد.

از فرهنگ های استاندارد و مناسب برای دوره های آیلتس و تافل میتوان به موارد زیر اشاره کرد:

(۲) کلمات را گروه بندی کنید و در گروه بیاموزید:

این روش آموختن لغات میتواند بسیار پربازده و سودمند باشد. لغت ها را هرگز تصادفی و از گوشه و کنار منابع مختلف انتخاب نکنید. در عوض پهرست هایی از لغت های مرتبط با هم تهیه کنید و کوشش کنید کلمه هایی که تازه یاد میگیرید را درون این گروه(Word Sets) ها وارد کنید. خوشبختانه چنین پهرست هایی را میتوانید در دیکشنری های حرفه ای و استاندارد پیدا کنید، فهرست(Word Sets) های اینچنینی را در این فرهنگ لغت ها یافته و با فهرست های خود همسنجی و مقایسه کنید و در نهایت دانش و سطح واژگان خود را بسیار بالا ببرید. برای مثال اگر یک واژه تازه مثل “braise” را آموخته اید میتوانید آن را با واژه هایی مثل bake، cook، stew، و barbeque در یک دسته زیر نام “Cooking” قرار دهید.
