The IDF has released new details on the three-month operation to capture the Ali Tahr Ridge in southern Lebanon.
Around 50 Hezbollah terrorists barricaded inside the underground tunnels chose to fight to the death. Israel offered them a chance to surrender through intermediaries in Lebanon. They refused and were eliminated.
Yahalom fighters found drones, anti-tank missiles and other weapons inside. Egoz fighters carried out ambushes near the shafts. Hezbollah's attempts to rescue or resupply the trapped men were disrupted.
Israel informed the U.S., which then notified the Lebanese government.

After eliminating the terrorists and destroying Hezbollah’s terror tunnels in the Ali Taher Ridge, the IDF has prepared operationally to take control of the ridge and prevent any attempt by Hezbollah or any other entity to return and reestablish a presence there.
Anyone who approaches the Ali Taher Ridge will be destroyed.
The Ali Taher Ridge is part of the Blue Line and Israel’s security zone in Lebanon, which spans 700 square kilometers from the coast in the west through the Beaufort Fortress and the Hermon region in the east, and as Prime Minister Netanyahu and I have made clear many times: We are not moving from the security zone—and the IDF will not withdraw or redeploy until Hezbollah is disarmed throughout Lebanon.
The IDF will continue to operate forcefully in the security zone, thwart terrorists and terrorist infrastructure both above and below ground, and eliminate any threat to our forces—from anywhere.
