Leavitt: The president spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu last night, and in that private conversation, Prime Minister Netanyahu conveyed exactly what he has said publicly — that he supports the president and that Israel remains a key ally and partner of the United States.

They have been a tremendous partner over the past six weeks, and we thank them for their heroic efforts.

Leavitt: They have. Yes.

💬 🇺🇸 Reporter: What was your understanding of what Trump meant when he said this civilization is going to be eliminated?

Leavitt: I think it was a very, very strong threat from the president of the United States — one that led the Iranian regime to cave and ask for a ceasefire, and to agree to reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

It was a strong threat that produced results. And as the Secretary of War stated at the Pentagon this morning, it was not an empty threat by any means.

The Pentagon had a target list ready to be executed at 8 p.m. last night.

The insinuation by anyone in this room that Iran somehow has the moral high ground over the United States is insulting, considering the atrocities they have committed against our people and our military over the past five decades.

Leavitt: The president’s and my main priority is to make sure that clear messages are sent to the American people.

Leavitt: It’s something the president has discussed, and I think it’s something he will be discussing in a couple of hours with Secretary General Rutte. You may hear more directly from him.

We’ve already seen an increase in traffic today; hopefully, we’ll see an increase in traffic tomorrow. We actually think that we are seeing signs that the straits are starting to reopen.

I think you guys have probably seen oil prices have come down. So, I think the oil markets, the gas markets, are seeing the same thing.

But the president’s been very clear: the deal is a ceasefire, a negotiation. That’s what we give, and what they give is that the straits are going to be reopened.

If we don’t see that happening, the president is not going to abide by our terms if the Iranians are not abiding by their terms.

The Israelis have actually offered to check themselves a little bit in Lebanon because they want to make sure that our negotiation is successful.

That's not because that is part of the ceasefire. I think that's the Israelis trying to set us up for success.

Trump has talked about sanctions relief. He has also talked about economic partnerships and things like that.

But that’s not going to happen unless the Iranians make a firm commitment to stop anything close to the development of a nuclear weapon.

JD Vance: The leadership is really to blame for the condition of the country of Iran.

Ghalibaf talked about an attack that had allegedly happened on Iran and how that was a violation of the ceasefire.

Ceasefires are always messy. An hour after the president announced the ceasefire, the Iranians launched a bunch of missiles. Then the Israelis responded, then some of the Gulf Arab states responded.

This is the nature of a ceasefire. No ceasefire ever goes without a little bit of choppiness.

The first 10-point proposal was something that was submitted, and we frankly think it was probably written by ChatGPT.

It immediately went into the garbage and was rejected.

There was a second 10-point proposal that was much more reasonable.

It was based on some back-and-forth between us and the Pakistanis. That is the proposal the president was referencing, and it’s true as of yesterday.

And then, frankly, I’ve seen a third 10-point proposal that’s even more maximalist than the first one that’s been floating around various social media channels.

US may close at least one military base, possibly in Spain or Germany.
