BR Gavai takes oath as Chief Justice of India, becomes 1st Buddhist to hold post
Justice BR Gavai on Wednesday took the oath as the 52nd Chief Justice of India at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
With this, he has become the first Buddhist to head the country's judiciary.
Justice Gavai, who joined the Bar in 1985, has been a part of around 700 benches in the past six years since his elevation to Supreme Court.
