πŸ”† Neutrinos
πŸ“ Overview: Neutrinos, the second-most abundant subatomic particles in the universe, are produced in radioactive decay, when massive stars explode, and when cosmic rays strike the Earth.
πŸ“ Details:
- 60 billion neutrinos pass through every square centimeter on Earth every second.
- Neutrinos interact weakly with matter, making them extremely hard to detect.
βœ… Key Takeaways:
- Neutrinos offer insights into many fundamental processes in physics, including nuclear fusion in the sun.
- They are central to understanding nuclear decay, as in beta decay, where an atom emits an electron and an anti-neutrino.
Shocking revelation: A recent CAG report (April 1, 2025) exposes a β‚Ή1,757.56 crore loss to the Indian govt due to BSNL’s failure to bill Reliance Jio for sharing infrastructure over 10 years (May 2014 - March 2024). Despite a Master Service Agreement, BSNL didn’t charge for extra tech usage, leading to this massive financial hit.

πŸ”† Key Facts on the Indus Script: Unraveling an Ancient Mystery

πŸ“ Overview of the Writing System:
βœ… The Indus Valley Civilization (2600–1900 BCE) developed an advanced writing system primarily seen on seals and pottery.
βœ… Over 3,500 artifacts featuring 676 distinct symbols have been discovered, highlighting the complexity of this ancient culture.

πŸ“ Challenges in Decipherment:
βœ… No Rosetta Stone: The absence of a bilingual text like the Rosetta Stone has hindered efforts to decode the script.
βœ… Short Inscriptions: Most inscriptions average only five characters, providing limited context for interpretation.
βœ… Purpose of the Script: Scholars are divided on its functionβ€”whether it represents a language or a symbolic system for trade and administration.
βœ… Unknown Language: The language behind the script remains uncertain, with theories linking it to Dravidian languages, an unknown linguistic family, or even multiple languages.

πŸ“ Key Scholarly Efforts:
βœ… Finnish scholar Asko Parpola has conducted extensive research, exploring links between the Indus script and Dravidian languages.
βœ… Modern approaches, including AI-based pattern recognition and computational linguistics, are being applied to analyze the script's structure and meaning.

πŸ“ Importance of Deciphering the Script:
βœ… Deciphering the script could unlock valuable insights into the culture, economy, and governance of the Indus Valley Civilization.
βœ… It could reveal details about their social structure, belief systems, and linguistic connections to modern South Asia.

πŸ“ Recent Developments:
βœ… In 2024, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced a β‚Ή8 crore (~$1 million) prize for anyone who can successfully decipher the script.
βœ… This initiative underscores the global significance of decoding the Indus script and its potential to deepen understanding of India’s historical and linguistic heritage.

It's happening! Scientists are doing wonders!

If you've watched the popular series Game of Thrones, you're probably familiar with the Dire Wolf.

The amazing thing is that scientists have brought the Dire Wolf β€” which had gone completely extinct from the Earth 10,000 years ago β€” back to life.

This feat was accomplished by a biotech company called Colossal Biosciences.
Scientists extracted DNA from 72,000-year-old fossils, reconstructed the entire genome of the Dire Wolf, and gave it life.

Now, the same company claims that by 2026, they will bring back the woolly mammoth β€” a creature that looked like an elephant and went extinct thousands of years ago.

If this continues,
who knows... one day we might even see dinosaurs in front of us!
