India welcomes Germany’s decision to waive the transit visa requirement for Indian nationals transiting through Germany by air, effective from 3 June 2026.This positive development follows discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Merz during the latter’s visit to India in January 2026.

The move is expected to significantly enhance people-to-people ties and ease travel for Indians heading to Europe and beyond.

#India currently holds 880.52 tonnes of #gold reserves, according to the World Gold Council, placing the country in fifth position globally.

India’s gold demand increased by 10% year on year to 151 tonnes during the first quarter. In value terms, demand almost doubled, climbing 99% year on year to a record Rs 2,275 billion ($25 billion) for the quarter.

Investment demand played the biggest role in this growth. Volumes rose 54% year on year to 82 tonnes, while the value surged 179% year on year, outperforming jewellery demand.

Demand for bars and coins reached 62 tonnes, almost equal to jewellery demand, which stood at 66 tonnes. Gold ETFs in India also touched a record high.

The #UnitedStates continues to hold the largest gold reserves in the world—a position it has maintained for years.

After a meeting with the Union Ministry of Shipping, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced that after #Kochi which was 17th city, the Centre has now given policy approval for Kolkata’s #WaterMetro project.

NASA’s MAVEN spacecraft orbiting Mars has been declared dead after six months of radio silence. The space agency confirmed the mission has ended after more than a decade of observations.

Launched in 2013 to study Mars’ atmosphere, MAVEN fell silent in early December after passing behind the planet.

Data indicated the spacecraft went into a fast spin, which disrupted its orbit and drained the onboard batteries.
