The ruling Trinamool Congress on Friday (February 27, 2026) announced four candidates, including senior advocate of Supreme Court, Menaka Guruswamy, who was among the lawyers representing petitioners that challenged Section 377 and led to decriminalisation of homosexuality in India.
The other nominees are former Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar, State Minister Babul Supriyo, and actor Koel Mallick.
