The speed limit on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway may no longer stay fixed throughout the day. A pilot is examining dynamic speed limits that change with traffic conditions, aiming to slow vehicles before congestion builds and improve road safety.

Research on the corridor has suggested different limits for peak and off-peak hours, while intelligent traffic systems could eventually support automated enforcement.

A conservation success story for India’s Asiatic Lions.

The population has risen from 523 in 2015 to 891 in 2025, while the lion range has expanded from around 30,000 sq km to nearly 35,000 sq km.

There was a time students carried lunch bags and bottles in their hands. Now those things have been replaced with larger-than-life smartphones and iPads that contain all the information and their attention. This has prompted at least 35 states along with the District of Columbia to ban smartphones in some capacity. There are 24 states that have a straight bell-to-bell restriction on smartphones in schools. That is, they are not allowed at all from the time school starts to the time school ends. Some of these states include Alabama, California, Texas, and New York.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), with the recommendation of its central board, had sent a proposal to the government in terms of Section 25 of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, for introduction of one billion pieces each of Rs 10 and Rs 20 polymer banknotes for field trials and for regular issuance of polymer banknotes in these two denominations after successful completion of field trials, Finance Minister said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha.
NASA has invited ISRO to join its Moon Base programme, deepening the U.S-India partnership in deep space exploration. The announcement came as the US State Department and NASA co-chaired the 9th India-U.S. Civil Space Joint Working Group meeting in Bengaluru, advancing cooperation under the TRUST initiative.

U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor also shared the news on X, writing that NASA had invited ISRO to join its Moon Base programme and calling it a step towards deepening the U.S-India deep space partnership.
Lebanon’s parliament today abolished the death penalty, making it the first country in the Arab world to replace the sentencing with life imprisonment with aggravated hard labour.

A majority of Lebanon’s 128-member parliament voted in favour of ending the death penalty, with the exception of the parliamentary bloc of Hezbollah. Justice Minister Adel Nassar, who was in Parliament, called it a historic step for the country.

Manipur’s Ariha Pangambam has scripted history by becoming the first Indian gymnast to win gold in the senior women’s individual event at the Asian Aerobic Gymnastics Championships.

The 22-year-old topped the field with a score of 19.10 at the 10th edition of the continental championships in Tagaytay City, Philippines. She earned 8.65 for artistry, 7.60 for execution and 2.85 for difficulty to secure India’s first-ever gold in the senior women’s individual category at the event.

Pangambam’s breakthrough comes after a strong run of performances, including a gold at the 2025 National Games in Uttarakhand, where she scored 18.450 in the women’s individual event.

Her historic victory marks a major milestone for Indian aerobic gymnastics, a discipline that combines strength, flexibility, dance and high-speed movements. It also adds another achievement to Manipur’s rich sporting legacy.
