Supreme Court on August 4 proposed linking fuel supply with valid vehicle insurance as part of a pilot project to curb large number of uninsured vehicles on Indian roads.

The Court said 56% of vehicles on Indian roads are uninsured and directed that mandatory third-party insurance for new cars be increased from three to four years and for new two-wheelers from five to six years.

The Court also directed the IRDAI to increase mandatory third-party insurance period for new private cars from three years to four years and for new two-wheelers from five years to six years.

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has asked Dabur India to stop labelling its food products with “100%” claims. The food safety regulator has said that claims, such as “100% Natural”, “100% Pure” and “100% Organic” are misleading.

The FSSAI said that several products listed on Dabur’s website were promoted using claims such as “100% Natural”, “100% Pure” and “100% Organic”. The regulator said these claims were ambiguous, could not be verified and were likely to mislead buyers.

Chinese astronauts have successfully harvested the first rice crop grown in space aboard the Tiangong space station. The achievement is an important step toward growing food for future missions to the Moon, Mars and other deep-space destinations.

The rice seeds were taken to space on the Shenzhou-23 mission in May. After more than two months, astronauts collected the crop and stored samples for further research.

Scientists are studying how rice grows in microgravity and whether it can be cultivated over multiple generations in space. The goal is to make future long-term space missions less dependent on food supplies from Earth.
