Subject: Urgent Action Needed: Escalating Crisis at NIT Silchar
To our Honourable CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarwa Sir and our young, energetic, dynamic MP Kripanath Mallah Sir
I trust this message finds you well. As a concerned student of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar, I am writing to you with an increasing sense of urgency and desperation. The situation within our institution has escalated to an alarming level, necessitating your immediate intervention to avert further harm.
The actions and attitudes of our college administration have plunged the campus into a state of chaos, causing widespread distress among the student body. There has arised a situation which happens to demand your urgent attention. A student of the Electrical Department studying at the National Institute of Technology, Silchar, named Koj Bukar has committed suicide due to the constant pressure from the Dean Academic B.K. Roy. He was found dead in his room and since then no action has been against the authorities. If this continues to be the state of the college then we can assure you that the number of students committing suicide in this college will keep on increasing. The Dean Academic has been harassing students since the beginning of his tenure. This also illustrates that the Director Dilip Kumar Baidya has been incompetent throughout his tenure and has failed miserably.
The honorable authorities of this institution haven't been supportive regarding this serious issue either.
We've put forward some legitimate demands and they are as follows:
1. We demand the administration of our college to provide the parents of the Lt. Koj Buker with proper compensation, be it in the form of financial aid, legal assistance or security in any form.
2. Since, the protest was instigated by the members of the administration, any student who happens to be involved in the protest should not be penalized or met with any sort of legal ramification in any possible form.
3. The students demand an immediate resignation of the Dean Academics, Prof. B.K. Roy.
4. A committee should be formed that will be in action from the day of its commencement, that would include members outside the administration and elected students' representatives.
5. There should be academic reforms which tend to be students friendly, thus reducing their academic pressure.
Taking our grievances into consideration, we humbly request you to look into this matter and take the necessary steps at the earliest.
Yours Sincerely
