π¨πΊ FROM HISTORY π©
πͺ Fidel Castro visits the Soviet Union
βοΈ On April 27th 1963, the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro first arrived in the USSR. The visit was to become the first of many.
π© The solidarity from the Soviet Union represented a crucial support in consolidaring the achievements of the revolution.
πͺ Beside economical and political support, Cuba was provided with a strategic rear, that the US could not ignore.
𧧠The friendship with the USSR also strengthened hope, dedication and resilience of the Cuban people and helped the young socialist republic withstand the devastating societal consequences of the illegal economic blockade imposed by the United States, a blockade that lasts to this day.
πͺ Russia, having overcome her own economic devastation, is again picking up the banner of mutual friendship and aid to Cuba that was dropped with the destruction of the USSR.
