Last night one of the highest performing Hyperliquid vaults built up a large short in kPEPE, representing nearly 25% of all open interest on the exchange.
It opened a small kPEPE short on Sunday and kept adding through Monday as the price rose. By 4:30pm EST yesterday the short was 712M kPEPE, about $3.5M. Over the next several hours, they added to the position aggressively through a TWAP and by 8PM EST, held 26% of all open interest, worth roughly $18M.
As price began to move against them, they quickly started to close the position, buying back everything in 45 minutes. In this time the price squeezed +7.5% higher from $0.004755 to $0.00511 and the vault ended up with a $587k net loss on the trade.
In total the vault is up $2.5M on the week and $10.2M all time.
