Queen of the Forgotten Lady of the Underworld, Queen of the Troll Women, Tender of Old Wounds, Guardian of the Dead & Death's Close Sister.
Hel, who dwells beneath the roots of Yggdrassil, separated from family & tribe built a home there not only for herself but the forgotten. In her Mercy and kindness Hel took upon herself the forgotten, the ailing, the starving and the ragged who could not find their way into the Halls of other Gods. It is she who tends the wounds that weigh upon the unfortunate.
It is Hel who takes in the Old and Infirm, the Young and Tragic giving them a place to heal their scars. She IS The Guardian of the Dead! It is she who tenderly nurses them so that they may rise to live again their burdens lifted their pain forgotten.
She is so beloved that the old and infirm, the forgotten and weak those who had nowhere else to turn, otherwise doomed to wander as ghosts. It is they who rally to her side to fight THE VERY GODS THEMSELVES!-TLK

On Genius
The term Genius once meant more than a "Brilliant Man". It once literally meant spirit or divinity typically a masculine spirit which was at times tied to the gods Janus or Jupiter, the feminine equivalent was a Juno (Among many other names).
The genius could also be venerated or acknowledged as the 'Spirit of Place' or 'Genius Loci'. Every man also had his own Genius that he could foster and grow which is where our modern term comes from, when we call a man a Genius we are in fact saying he is godlike or divinity incarnate.
Over time the Genius' original meaning has faded from the cultural understanding even if we more or less use it accurately. It still remains in some notable elements in the second half of the second Millenia it became perverted in literature through fusion with the Djinn or Genie of the Middle East, while the imagery of this divine self became the go to imagery for angels with their wings and the ascension to heaven to become "Winged Angel"-TLK

Treasure Keeper, Number Nip, Lord John, Lord of the Mountains, Prince of the Gnomes and King of the Underworld
Rübezahl Lord of the Mountains who rules over the mines and mountains of the land, he is the ruler of the wild beasts and the Gnomes of the Earth its riches belong to him crafted by his Underworld Kingdom of Gnomes! He is the inventor of not only Sourdough but the Spinning Wheel. The ruler of weather upon his mountain peaks he casts lighting and fog with the wave of his hand or the strum of his Storm Harp.
He takes the form of a Gnome, a Bear, a Wildman, a Dwarf, a Monk, a Woodcutter, a Toad, a Goat, a Giant, even a King, whosoever he wishes to be on his mountains. He tests the heart of all his people dispensing justice and humility upon the cruel while rewarding the kind and brave.
Atop his mountains he grows his gardens of gold & silver blossoms pining for the tragic love that gave him his accursed name, Rübezahl.-TLK

Why are we drawn to mountains?
Many a tale, myth and legend has been told of mountains. The Sleeping King who dwells beneath his cracked ledges. The myriad of spirits and beasts who hide within their deep caverns and forests. From the Mountains where Frau Holle dwells dispensing wisdom and newborn souls, to where the Old Man of the Mountain leads his ancient hermitage. Where Votan casts storms down from on high and Gods Dwell atop Olympus!
Men follow Snow White Deer to lands of ethereal maidens and magic relics, Women climb glass mountains to save Kings from dreaded curses and children find fearsome beasts as docile to them as kittens. But the more you seek them the further away they get. The Wild Hunt. The Troll Witches. The Sleeping Hosts of Valiant Knights. The Gods atop the Peaks. To seek them is to lose them, to wander is to find them. For it is well known the gods dwell where men rarely tread.

Discussion:
The painting was initially meant to be a speed painting of under 6 hours, but unfortunately life got in the way of that. The painting features a dominant mountain peak, inspired by The Matterhorn (Alps) and environment therewith.
A treacherous mountain pass on which a horse-drawn carriage is seen riding off toward the peak. Pine-laden hills shape the lower-half of the composition to give an idea of the considerable proportions of each natural element. I selected cold, wintery colours to create the painting, thereby giving the observer the impression of untold beauty enshrouded by a harsh environment.
Needless to say; I am quite chuffed by the final result. Thank you to Hyperborean Radio for the write-up. Regardless, everything is still on track concerning upcoming projects – such as the Midsummer art piece – and another exciting joint project between HR and myself. More information will be released in due course.
The artwork will also be uploaded onto Hyperborean Radio’s Patreon so as to entice people to sign up for high-quality artwork (the work is compressed on TG) and without the watermark. So, for now, there will be a visible watermark on the artwork. I do not mind uploading my paintings for free, but please try to support us whenever you can, as the money will help fund future projects. We really appreciate it!
