Ancestors in Plain Sight
How many of us have seen Disney's Cinderella? Or read Wind in the Willows or Redwall? Some way or another we've all seen them a rabbit in a scarf, a fox in a dapper suit, a hedgehog brewing ale. Yet despite how ubiquitous the imagery is many of us have forgotten the deep spiritual origins of this phenomenon. For this is the form the ancestors take when they visit. A mouse rocking the cradle is great grandma come to see the new baby, a wise old fox with a bowler hat is an uncle letting you know to avoid the murky swamp or clever conman. Sometimes they hang around as house spirits collecting apples and dewdrops living in a hollow log, just keeping an eye on their family. Other times whole communities spring up joyous when we are joyous and sorrowful when we are sorrowful. Sure there are also the more humanoid ghosts and House spirits but you never know. That Squirrel that's a bit too sweet, that Bear that's a bit too protective of you, could be family and we just don't know it.-TLK

Accidental Deity, Saint Olaf of Norway
Saint Olaf is an odd situation, on the one hand this King of Norway was a devout Christian who is held up as the man who combatted paganism and even batted away Mjolnir the weapon of Mighty Thor! Yet this is but a propagandistic Façade for a rather ironic figure. As a king of Norway with a mostly pagan population during his rule Olaf was considered the embodiment of a fertility god (most likely Freyr god of fertility and Kingship) and served as godhead and conduit for the fertility of the land, much to his chagrin he did not like and even discouraged this deification during his lifetime. He was also said to have actively fought Thor and his followers pushing the foreign religion as he went. While he fought the pagan cultures during his lifetime, the eternal irony is he was used to cover up Thor and rather blatantly. His modern image is merely a Saintly Thor, Red bearded, Troll slaying, and axe wielding. Saint Olaf is no more, in life he embodied Freyr in death Thor.-TLK
