Just so that people do not forget. I am not just a painter and/or illustrator, I also do graphic design work - such as logos, avatars, banners, graphic prints, flyers, etc. Do not hesitate to ask me for any of the aforementioned. Here is something I recently did for Hyperborean Radio, as they needed a graphic print for their news alert(s).

There is a negative connotation on Trickster deities, that need not be there. The result of this mindset is due to the influence of the devil and Christianity. Trickster deities such as Veles, Hermes, Reynard, Prometheus, Odin, Loki, Puck, and more. They master magic, invent alphabets, find and bring back gifts for the gods and their people. Puck is a romantic and will matchmake lovers who catch his eye, Loki brought back Gullinbursti, Mjolnir and other great gifts that the gods use, Prometheus gave man fire and crafts, Hermes the alphabet and much more. The "Trickster" category is a broad and complex one, that is more of a means to simplify a deity than to outright explain it. None of these deities as tricky as they may be, are evil. Most were in fact beloved by their own people and still are. They are teachers, guardians, romantics, and helpfully cunning. To allow "Trickster" to be a negative is to ignore 10's of thousands of a years of history for less than 2000.-TLK

One of my most controversial stances is that I don't believe it is right to jam gods together, often over trivial similarities. Such as names or domains. Here are some examples of why.

Hermes Greek messenger god of trade, etc. Vs. Hermus Greek river god

Hilda, a Valkyrie vs. Holda, Multi-faceted German Witch Goddess

Freya, goddess of magic and fertility Norse Vs. Frey God of Kingship and Fertility Norse

Hera, Greek Queen of the Gods Vs, Frau Hera, German goddess who rides a goose

There are many more examples some of which like Aker (Basque Goat God) and Aker (Egyptian Earth god) are even spelled the same in modern English. Etymology is an inexact science and without written records and all but names all or many of the above gods would be shoved together recklessly. I go off of stories and descriptions as well as regions and culture. In the Norse alone there are 3 gods whose names translate to Lord and another 3 who translate to beloved. One of which is in both. Why are we getting rid of gods?-TLK

Just a reminder that this worldwide celebration ongoing in Japan known as the Olympics, started out as an extremely popular Pagan festival in Greece. Over time it has become what it is today, from its ancient roots of testing strength and honoring gods such as Hermes to the modern day issues that come with such a ceremony. This is a pagan celebration. The Olympic medals even have the Greek Goddess of Victory Nike on the back of them, and the fire is lit in Greece by women dressed in traditional Hellenic garb. While I will not deny the many issues in the modern games, I find it fascinating a European pagan custom is a major worldwide event.-TLK

The 2020 Tokyo Olympic Medals are made from recycled electronics, but that's not the main feature I wish to show. On the reverse side there is the goddess Nike (Victoria is the Roman goddess of Victory) the Greek goddess of Victory. She has been placed there for decades. Also on the medal is the Olympic symbol of 5 rings for the 5 races of man. As well as the Panathinaikos Stadium. The other aspects of the design are based on traditional Japanese Crafts to honor the current host country.-TLK

Borbanus is a Gallo-Roman Deity who was venerated from Portugal to Germany. Numerous regions were named after him taking a name derived to "Bourbon" Borbanus was a god of healing hot springs and mineral waters. He was highly venerated in what is now France and the immigrants from said regions moved to America where over time a kind of cognac-like whiskey known today as "Bourbon" was invented. An obscure Gaulish god ended up having his name attributed to the most famous American Liquor. Well some people claim Bourbon "cures what ails ya" so one could argue Borbanus is the patron god of Bourbon both the places that hold the name and the popular drink.-TLK

One of the most misunderstood pieces of folklore is that of shapeshifting. While there are examples of transmogrification of people into animals, or werewolf like monsters. Shapeshifting actually typically comes in two forms. One, is that of the transfer of consciousness this is known in popular culture by names such as "Borrowing" or "Greenseers" it is named as one form of shapeshifting with Odin even doing so in Ynglinga Saga. The second, is the sending out of the soul in the shape of an animal. This can be seen in some stories such as the story of the Witches Sabbath, where the witches send their soul out as part of the night battles beside their gods, or in the modern film Wolfwalkers. Some traditions like the Doppelganger are memories of this semi-autonomy of the soul. There is also a third option albeit it is different as it embodies the animal such as in Wilder Mann customs or in the variations on the Berserker Warrior. All three of these had spiritual importance and should be considered.-TLK
