I am a proud American and along with my German heritage the other part of folklore I often study and at times hits me in the soul in a way other lore does not is that of America. Her children and the mythic lore we brought and built here in this land. Bunyan, Appleseed, Magarac, Old Stormy, and so much more. With Paul Bunyan Day coming up and July 4th closing in now felt like a good time to post this love letter to my American Heritage a reminder of the lore and mythic landscape of this Land of Liberty and what it could've been. -TLK https://wylderhomesproject.life/2021/06/27/tall-tales-american-demigods/

Today is National Paul Bunyan Day (June 28th). Paul Bunyan, The Legendary Lumberjack of the Northwoods is one of the most well known mythic figures of American Folklore. Functioning as a Thor or Herculean Demi-god like figure, while even being known in some areas as "The God of the Northwoods". He has fought sentient rivers, caught blizzards, romanced the Lady of the Lake, built weapons made of the sun, brought the dead back to life, taken on swarms of giant insects, dug the Mississippi and the Grand Canyon, cleared the Dakota's and much more. His lore is widespread in this land of our forefathers and I encourage you to look into him. -TLK
One of Paul's favorite foods is Sourdough Pancakes, especially made by Sourdough Sam his one armed one legged expert cook. Feel free to look around for a recipe if you are interested, here's one I found.-TLK https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/classic-sourdough-waffles-or-pancakes-recipe

A song to Paul Bunyan from an American Folk band. A sort of continuation of Lore made into Bardic song. Similar to far older traditions.-TLK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJ88aYZTMiM

Lucette, is another giant of American Folklore. Or in this case a "Giantess" she is considered the Sweetheart of Paul Bunyan in certain subsections of Minnesotan lore. She was said to make the best quilts around and initially spurn Paul's advances. Though in later telling she is called his Wife and some have even claimed she gave birth to his son Paul Bunyan Jr. In the above picture she can be seen quilting the crops into the earth a blood memory call back to fertility goddesses of the land perhaps?-TLK
I made Sourdough Pancakes, read some American Folklore, discussed Paul with some friends and made sure to enjoy my Paul Bunyan Day. I hope you did too here is the rather childish compared to the original lore short film of Paul Bunyan from back when Disney was only sorta awful.-TLK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3rZUOJn5W8

Hey everyone,
I just want to say thank you for all the support I have received thus far. The Dale of the Gods artwork has amassed over 1100 views, whereas my Fenrir and Faerie artworks have amassed 577 & 256 views respectively. That is really fantastic! Just those views alone will motivate me to paint more intricate pieces. I did, however, replace the submitted Fenrir pieces with the edited version (I made a few changes to his eyes). I did not know TG had a "replace image" feature until i fortuitously clicked on the pencil icon. Anyway, if you find any of my artwork appealing and therefore would like to purchase any one of them, you can then visit the following websites below:

"Among the steelworkers of the Northeast, especially those of Slavic or Hungarian descent, there is a legend known as “The Saga of Joe Magarac”. Joe Magarac was sometimes known as the Paul Bunyan of steel workers. Born of a mountain filled with ore. Joe Magarac was made of the very steel he worked to form, and he was far stronger than any average man, able to do effortlessly what caused men in their primes, eyes to burst from their head in exhaustion. He would work day and night in the steel mills. He had no use for a wife or a house, and in fact his very workstation had been labeled “The Home of Joe Magarac”. Where he stirred the molten steel with his bare hands and took handfuls to form the rails and implements the steel became. He made steel so well and so fast that the plant eventually was forced to close for a few days, due to supply exceeding demand."
