Good news... our next issue of Europe & Diaspora is available for purchase. Also, just a bit of an update: my artwork has come to a grinding halt because I haven't been feeling well due to the relentless grind. I am taking a little bit of a break as I do not want to reach burnout twice within three weeks, but otherwise I am working on four different paintings, including commissions, art challenges and some pagan work involving Fenrir (which is looking spectacular). I'll be working on the next magazine issue, soon, which will be the Halloween edition. The Goddess Harke is said to bathe in Lake Kamern in the morning after wandering out of her Oak Forests. If the river is iced over she will take an oak tree and smash the ice open. Other goddesses also often appear associated with waters such as Perchta, Hertha, and Holle all being associated with lakes and wells. Lakes and other living waters function as liminal spaces especially wells which also combine the liminal spaces of shadows and under earth. Hertha is said to bathe in Hertha Lake. There are often threats associated with getting into the water or trying to reach the bottom of these areas. With water spirits moving boats into trees in Hertha's lake or a message at a sacred well for Holle that warns people to not try to dredge the lake again or disaster will befall a nearby town. This may be to uphold the sanctity of these places or it may be Christianized or even Post-Christian pagan legends to keep people away from these areas.-TLK

Paul Bunyan is the god of the Northwoods in American folklore. Along with his gang of magical animals and gifted humans. He once did battle with the "Whistling River" a sentient river who spit much of its contents over at Paul littering his thick long beard with trees, fish, and debris. He swore vengeance and went to the north pole to capture a blizzard. He brought it back to Ole the Blacksmith who forged it into chains and Paul froze it and pulled it straight. This caused a commotion at the other end but Paul cut it up and saved the river for later use. The river's predictable rise from its banks and whistling had been used to start and end the day for many a lumberman, but luckily a new hire had just as wide reaching and high pitched a voice. So all was well.-TLK

Joe Magarac is a demigod-like folk hero from American folklore. He was born of mountain ore and lightning storms before wandering down to the people below and helping day and night in factories which functioned as his home. He also fell in love with a woman with hair like fire, he won her hand but gave her up so she could be with the man she truly loved. In some stories Joe is a man made of steel from the very start a sort of divinely smithed man in others an accident at the factory caused the steel to cover him melting his flesh but replacing it because it loved him so. He would stir the molten metal and bend bars with his bare hands. When the factories began to collapse Joe melted himself into the steel infusing his soul into all of American Steel and helping build all that was made from it in spirit. Just as our men's blood, sweat, and tears was an integral part of building wonders.-TLK

In German Mythology "The Faithful Eckhart" or simply Eckhart is a spirit or deity who goes ahead of the wild hunt and warns of its coming. In this way he acts as a herald for the Hunt especially Frau Holle who he is extremely devoted too and sometimes thought to be a priest or devotee of hers before undergoing ascension and becoming her herald. He is also tied up with Yule and some figures hold that he is one of the companions of Sinterklaas. He also waits outside the Venusberg for Holle and her riders to return and warns people away from it. When he is not needed he tends to sleep in a rock or a Linden tree.
