Disrupt SF 2018

ICX Station Launcpad Kickoff Day

LogisticsX will be presenting our project on ICX Station Launcpad Kickoff Day on 6 Sep 2018 in San Francisco.

ICX Station is a global accelerator program sponsored by the ICON Foundation. ICX Station will have hubs, known as Launchpads, in major cities around the world, with the first location being the San Francisco Launchpad. It aims to accelerate projects pushing the boundaries of real-world adoption of blockchain technology.

During the event, ICON’s accelerator “ICX Station” in Silicon Valley will be officially launched and selected promising projects from Silicon Valley, Korea, Japan and Singapore such as LogisticsX will be invited to share their project.

LogisticsX is honored and glad to be part of ICX Station, getting a great deal of techical and invesment supports from ICON ecosystem, including advisors, industry experts, and investors.

LogisticsX aims to utilise blockchain technology to create a decentralised platform that will tackle the challenges in the last-mile logistics (mentioned earlier in the previous post). It is envisioned that the trustless nature of the platform will provide the foundation for a harmonized ecosystem between the different stakeholders involved in the last-mile process such as the E-commerce retailers,third party logistics companies, collection points (“Parker”), free-lancer couriers (“Runner”) and parcel recipients.

AlphaCar to Enter the Ridesharing Market (I)

AlphaCar is planning to offer rideshare services in late August or early September. By using the new version of the AlphaCar app, non-commercial drivers can pickup passengers who share a similar route, while sharing the travel cost. The passenger will pay 50–70% less than hiring a taxi or Uber/Didi driver. Both the driver and the passenger will receive ACAR token rewards.
Rideshare is a huge market globally but is also underserved. One reason is that the supply of vehicles and drivers are relatively few and cannot meet the travel demand. By granting proper incentives to the drivers, AlphaCar aims to encourage more car owners to become rideshare convenience providers, and subsequently reduce the travel cost and alleviate traffic congestion problems.

Hyun is currently the Co-founder and Managing Partner of Deblock, a blockchain VC firm and accelerator founded by the ICON foundation.

He began his career as a software engineer more than 10 years ago with LG Electronics, before moving on to the corporate venture capital space with GS Shop, Korea’s largest corporate VC, for several years.

After witnessing the movement in the blockchain space, Hyun realized that blockchain would be a new frontier that would revolutionalize industries in the same manner that the web, and mobile sectors did.
