Kurdish political prisoner Hamid Hosseinnejad Heydaranlou #حمید_حسین‌نژاد_حیدرانلو was tortured and made to confess under duress to crimes he says he did not commit. His children say they have evidence to prove his innocence and plead to the world to save their father.

Iran is a signatory to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), which prohibits torture and mandates fair trial standards. Although Iran has signed the United Nations Convention Against Torture (UNCAT), it has not ratified it. Nonetheless, the prohibition against torture is considered customary international law, binding on all states regardless of treaty ratification.
