Biweekly update on @Humanode vol.72
3rd April – 17th April

TL;DR
Hello, human nodes! This report provides an overview of the main news, development updates, and recent events within the Humanode ecosystem. Let’s start!

First, several updates and enhancements have been made in various aspects of Humanode's development. The team has utilized ZombieNet, a robust framework tailored for Substrate-based blockchains, for end-to-end network testing that enables testing changes, particularly when launching multiple nodes, by effortlessly spawning and testing ephemeral networks. Further insights are available on the Humanode GitHub.

Furthermore, the team has completed a proof of concept (POC) for experimental research on Confidential Virtual Machine (CVM) attestation. A Rust utility for attestation has been developed, along with a web transport server and client, ensuring the security of the transport session. In addition to CVM attestation, research efforts are directed towards enabling web support. The goal is to create a client library facilitating connection to CVM via the web, enhancing flexibility and accessibility for developers.
Enhancements in BotBasher include developing a system to refresh tokens for users in the next generation. Additionally, features such as displaying Discord usernames after facial scanning and introducing a ticket system for improved communication between the team and the community are being implemented. Also, the translation of the mainnet website into different languages has commenced, with translators engaged to assist with this initiative.

As for business development, Humanode has established a partnership with Hackless, a platform enhancing the security of DeFi protocols. Hackless has integrated Humanode’s BotBasher into its Discord to prevent Sybil attacks and bots. The partnership includes community a campaign on AlphaGuilty, offering rewards. Banksters, the first P2E trading game blending finance education with immersive gameplay, is now utilizing BotBasher for Sybil resistance in their airdrop campaigns, offering NFTs with in-game utility to unique participants. Qappi, a gamified platform for onboarding & engaging web3 users, now uses BotBasher for Sybil-resistant quests, ensuring authentic and secure user participation for web3 projects.

A new article explains how Humanode Biomapper ensures data privacy and security in the fight for Sybil-resistance and user security in Web3 services and DApps.

The first Humanode-inspired novel, "2067 - The Equilibrium," has been introduced, offering a glimpse into a dystopian future and the importance of preventing it. Read it here.

The weekend is upon us again, and so is part 2 of the Book of Masato, the second story in the Humanode inspired dystopian novel 2067 -the equilibrium- by Humanode Media Lead, Shannon Higgins.
In this episode, Masato is pushed deeper into the rabbit hole of the inner tickings of the conglomerates, finding himself more and more cornered by the day. Can he and his team make it out of this mess? More importantly, who is there that he can trust? Why does it feel like he is just a lamb being set up for the slaughter?

Development Update
16th April – 23rd April

Check out the latest from Humanode development:

🔺 Blockchain Progress
Over the last week, we've been deeply engaged in Substrate updates, merging v0.9.42. As we prepare for the transition to Polkadot SDK v1.0, we're also exploring approaches to maintaining our forks through patchlists. Dive into Humanode GitHub for further insights.

🔺 Employing ZombieNet for E2E Network Testing
ZombieNet continues to serve as a stalwart framework tailored for Substrate-based blockchains. We've utilized ZombieNet to test changes, especially when launching multiple nodes. Through its suite of tools, including a user-friendly CLI tool and support for various assertions, ZombieNet ensures the resilience of Humanode. Last week, we forked ZombieNet and tested a fake robonode to assess network load. Testing the genesis with over 1k validators remains a priority.

🔺 Exploring Remote Attestation from the Web Browser
In addition to Confidential Virtual Machine (CVM) attestation efforts, we're delving into web support. Our goal is to create a client library facilitating connection to CVM via the web, enhancing accessibility for developers.

🔺 BotBasher Enhancements
Our team has been actively enhancing BotBasher. Notably, a new component—token sustainer—is now in staging. Additionally, we're testing the revocation component during server reboot.

🔺 Preparations for Biometric Update
We're gearing up for the regular update of Facetec, our primary biometric provider. Simultaneously, we're in the process of selecting candidates for additional liveness detection providers to decentralize our biometric architecture.

🔺 Mainnet Website Localization
Significant strides have been made in localizing the mainnet website. We've initiated the translation of website content into different languages and have engaged translators to support this initiative.

The time has come to introduce part 3 of the Book of Masato, the second story in the Humanode inspired dystopian novel 2067 -the equilibrium- by Humanode Media Lead, Shannon Higgins. In this episode, Masato is finds himself deeper and deeper down the rabbit hole, and his morality as an scientist is tested beyond what he thought possible. How far can a person go for a data point? How low can a person swoop to aim for the top? Then again, perhaps Masato hasn’t even scratched the surface…

Impossible Finance Swap, currently the main DEX on Humanode EVM with over 1 million USD monthly trading volume, will be sending 60% of the swap fees to the Humanode network.

Each quarter USDC collected by Impossible Finance DEX will be used to Buy-back HMND which will be sent to the Fee pot address accruing network fees and distributing them to validators. And it also means Humanode blockchain is becoming more self-sustainable!

The first buy-back will happen this week.

Biweekly update on @Humanode vol.73
17th April — 1st May

TL;DR
Hello, human nodes! This biweekly report provides an overview of the main news, development updates, and recent events within the Humanode ecosystem. Let’s start!

First, human nodes have surged from 483 to 700+ in less than a month, underscoring the growing interest and participation in the network. This brings the network closer to the milestone of 1000 human nodes, a testament to the robustness and attractiveness of the Humanode ecosystem.

Moreover, Humanode’s collaboration with Impossible Finance marks a significant step towards network sustainability. The decision to allocate 60% of swap fees from Impossible Finance to the Humanode network not only enhances the platform’s financial sustainability but also provides a lucrative incentive for validators. The first buy-back will happen this week.

Behind the scenes, the Humanode team is tirelessly working on various development fronts. The focus has been on Substrate updates, particularly merging v0.9.42. Additionally, the team is gearing up to integrate BLS12–381, slated for version 117. Keep an eye out for version 116 distribution on the mainnet in the coming days. Furthermore, the team continued to leverage ZombieNet, especially for testing multiple nodes. Prioritizing testing the genesis with over 1k validators, the team is also eyeing 5k validators in the near future. On top of that, the team has been actively enhancing BotBasher, with a new component — token sustainer — now in staging.

Also, the team has made a few updates to the guide on launching and running a node on the Humanode network. The latest version includes the latest updated information, new screenshots, and an FAQ section addressing the most common queries. You can access the updated guide here.

Humanode’s strategic partnerships and community engagement initiatives play a pivotal role in driving ecosystem growth and awareness. The integration of Humanode Network with SubWallet, a comprehensive wallet solution for the Polkadot, Substrate, and Ethereum ecosystems, expands accessibility and usability for users across multiple platforms.

Furthermore, the listing of HMND on MEXC exchange enhances liquidity and trading opportunities for the Humanode community. MEXC became the 9th exchange to list HMND.

In addition to technological advancements, Humanode is actively contributing to thought leadership in the blockchain space through insightful publications. The comparative analysis of Layer-1 blockchain economies, authored by Humanode co-founder Victor, offers valuable insights into validator rewards and economic incentives across different networks. Similarly, the exploration of biometrics as a solution to the digital media crisis underscores Humanode’s commitment to leveraging technology for societal benefit.

The introduction of the Humanode-inspired dystopian novel series, “2067 — The Equilibrium,” provides a creative narrative that highlights the importance of preventing undesirable futures through innovation and collective action.

That’s a wrap. Stay in the loop!
