📍 Humanitarian Mission Rio Grande do Sul
➡️ As part of the Rio Grande do Sul Humanitarian Mission, Fraternity - International Humanitarian Missions (FIHM), through its Training and Development Sector, held a three-day training course on the Sphere Humanitarian Standards in Porto Alegre, in collaboration with Green Thinking and the Mari Johannpeter Institute.
➡️ The training took place from June 19 to 21, from 1pm to 9pm, at TecnoPuc and covered a few chapters of the Sphere Humanitarian Standards contained on the Sphere Handbook both as a reference guide for structuring a humanitarian response and as a document that underpins humanitarian action based on human dignity.
➡️ As the Sphere International Humanitarian Standards focal point in Brazil and Portugal, Fraternity - Humanitarian Missions (FIHM) contributed with training individuals and institutions working directly or indirectly in the emergency response to the severe floods that hit the state in May.

Sphere International Humanitarian Standards Workshop
➡️ The Workshop on Sphere Humanitarian Standards, held at TecnoPuc in Porto Alegre, was attended by 19 people, including members of the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Red Cross, NGOs, academics and five members of Fraternity - Humanitarian Missions (FMHI).
➡️ The introductory sessions featured institutional presentations from various organizations, covering topics such as "What is Sphere?", "Structure of the Sphere Handbook", "The Humanitarian Charter" and "Principles of Protection".
➡️ The participatory methodology highlighted the engagement of the group, which brought examples of action during the May floods. According to the facilitators, "this made the sessions run smoothly".
➡️ During the three-day event, the Fraternity - Humanitarian Missions (FIHM) worked on the Essential Humanitarian Standards and technical chapters on Housing, Settlement, WASH, Food Security, Nutrition and Health.

➡️ Benefiting 17 Venezuelan indigenous migrants of the Taurepang, Warao, Arekuna and Wayuú ethnic groups, the Fraternity - Humanitarian Missions (FIHM), through its project, the Indigenous Cultural and Training Center (CCFI), is holding a Portuguese Conversation Course every Tuesday from 3pm to 5:30pm.
➡️ The course will consist of 10 meetings, will have a class load of 25 hours and will be taught by a FIHM core volunteer with a degree in Portuguese from the Federal University of the state of Minas Gerais.
➡️ The training uses elements from real life to generate conversation, using texts from newspapers, lyrics from Brazilian music and images.
➡️ The graduates will have a better chance of entering the local job market, as they will be able to develop conversation, show their skills and qualities with greater clarity and understanding.
