Tunica media :
Thin ➡️large veins
Consiste of few circular layers of SM fibers ➡️medium sized veins
♦️فى الاتنين مفيش external elastic lamina
🔷 tunica intima and media ➡️thin in vennules

Tunica adventitia :
Represent most of the wall thickness in ( large veins, medium sized veins and vennules)
♦️بيبقى فيهاlongitudinal bundles of smooth muscle فى large veins
🔷 valves in large and medium sized veins only

Arteries
Tunica intima :
endothelium, subendothelium ➡️in large , medium sized, small arteries

Internal elastic lamina
Present and not apparent➡️ large arteries

Present and apparent ➡️medium sized arteries

Not present ➡️ arterioles and metarterioles

Tunica media :
Concentric elastic lamina with smooth muscle in between ➡️
Large arteries

Concentric circular layers of SM fibers with fibers in between➡️
Medium sized arteries

One or two layers of circullary aranged muscle fibres ➡️ arterioles
Thin tunica media ➡️ metarterioles
♦️ External elastic lamina نفس الكلام بتاع internal elastic lamina
Tunica adventitia
♦️Contains vasa vasorum in large arteries only
♦️ absent in metarterioles

Large arteries ➡️ elastic arteries
Medium sized arteries ➡️ muscular arteries

Capillaries

Dis Continuous capillaries
▪️ between endothelial cells
▪️no diaphragm
▪️ Basal lamina is discontinus
▪️in bone marrow , liver , spleen

Continuous capillary
▪️no pores between endothelial cells
▪️tight junction between endothelial cells
▪️basal lamina cover all capillary
▪️in cardiac muscle , lung , CNS , skeletal muscle

Fenestrated capillary :
▪️ fenestration between endothelial cells
▪️ with diaphragm : in intestine and kidney
▪️ without diaphragm : in renal glomerulus
▪️basal lamina is continuous

☠ metabolic function of capillaries ➡️
♦️ lipolysis of lipoprotein
♦️ conversion of angiotensin 1 to angiotensin 2
♦️ conversion of serotonin, bradykinin and prostaglandin into inert compounds

1- direct connection : by connecting segment
In ( finger tips / toes / nose / lips internal organs )
2- indirect connection by glomus
In ears/ finger nails / finger pads

🔷basilar artery
- medium sized artery
- thin wall and wide lumen
- no external elastic lamina
- thick internal elastic lamina
- thin tunica media and adventitia
